When I unlock or lock the truck should it beep/honk at me?

All it does is flash the lights and turn the locks.

My other Vic’s beep, or honk at me.
And what should it sound like?
Is there a noise generator speaker etc, where is it?

I don't think the beeper was added on 2nd gens until around 09, it would be on the left radiator support near the battery if it was present.

My 2013, being a base model, doesn't even have auto locks, but I can say "beep," or "beep-beep" when locking and unlocking my truck.

    Same for my 2013.
I toggled them off via that procedure - then got paranoid that I didn't lock the truck and toggled it back on.

@JAGCanada can you toggle the seatbelt chime off?
    That thing is annoying.

When I'm walking to/from my truck and I hear another Toyota lock/unlock (beep/beep-beep), I re-lock/unlock my truck to see if the other person will keep the beeps beeping.

    My '09 beeps when locking/unlocking.

Yes, you can. This procedure works on my '09:
    1. Turn the Car 'ON', but do not start the engine (Leave your foot off the brake). Cycle your trip reset knob until it reads ODO. Turn the ignition back off. Wait a couple of seconds.
    2. Make sure seat belt is not fastened
    3. Turn the ignition back on, do not start the car (Leave you foot off the break) As soon as you see everything light up, press and hold the trip reset knob and do a long 12 second count.
    4. Keep your finger on the trip reset knob. Fasten your seat belt, as soon as you fasten your seat belt, you should see the ODO display go from XXXX miles to "b-on". At that time take your finger off the trip reset knob and press it again. It should cycle to "b-off". You should be all set and turn the ignition off and unfasten your seat belt.

Theres a DIY in the stickies about adding the beep if you don’t have it and want to. Early models only? My 06 has keyless entry w/no beep.

No beep on my 08. I added a Peizo buzzer under the hood so I get that sound when it locks. There's a post on how to do it here somewhere if you want to add it. It takes about 20 minutes and was in the neighborhood of about $10 when I did it many years ago.

I toggled the beep off on my 2013 and encourage others to do likewise. That beep or horn tap sound is nothing but noise pollution.

I added a little piezo beeper on my 06 and connected it to my hazard light circuit. Only draw back is the buzzer constantly beeps when your hazard lights are on. I fixed that by adding a switch under the dash to disable the buzzer when I turn on the hazards. Doesn't make any noise when using turn signals.

Anyone got a photo of what this looks like on their '09+? Would like to keep an eye out at the pick-a-part salvage place.

Also, what is it wired to? Guessing it's not the hazards like us no-beepers are trying to do.

Someone should make a replacement beeper module that sounds like a fart.
