Rondog's Long Travel Build

This is going to be a work in progress. I bought my truck in December of 2007. A couple months later I bought and installed the procomp 6" lift. I am now in need of something that can handle better out in the desert so a couple months ago I decided on going LT.

If you see me driving, I'll look like this:

This is my truck as of 3/16/2011, 6" procomp drop bracket lift:


First day I picked it up, 12/24/07:


This came to me yesterday so what you see above will drastically change within the next few weeks



Got my GIANT LT setup a couple months later



I have glassworks unlimited fiberglass front and rear, just not pictured. I will be starting this install next weekend. Shocks and coils are coming to me next week. I'll be updating this as I go. Hopefully I take lots of picture of the install.

I was actually thinking of setting up my sisters camera and doing a time lapse kinda thing

 

hmm... I'd like to see how you handle the switch from a drop bracket to a LT setup

Yeah that ones got me thinking. I know they dropped the differential in the front when they installed the procomp kit and cut part of the cross member. I can re-weld a piece on the cross member, but I have no clue where the diff originally sat at stock. Won't know till I get down there

 

nothing was done to your diff up front... it was just lowered with brackets

 

That's what I said. Regardless, I don't think it's going to be that difficult. Good thing I didn't get rid of my stock spindles!

So we started the install tonight starting at 9pm..real good!

We didn't get too far because a lot of the nuts had seized on there and were a bitch to get off. We got one upper control arm off, the sway bar off and other misc items. I also received my shocks and coils today.

Now for a question..does anyone know the size of this nut. We didn't have a socket big enough so I'll have to buy one tomorrow.

 

^I don't quite remember but its like a 25mm bigger than what most people have in their tool inventory

 

Sweet ride man! Build threads like this makes me want to do this to my truck also.

 

I have a 32mm and it was still too small lol

 

^maybe I'm thinking its a 35mm we had to go to the autoparts twice for the right size. I'll PM someone who might know

thanks man yea we got it finally. Took the 35 mm socket and a 6 foot breaker bar to get it loose...now we are stuck on the axles. We cant remove the inner CV star. We've tried a 3 prong press that you screw down..there just isn't enough surface area for the prongs to grip on and that star is freakin hard to get off.
