Then I’m definitely older than dirt because in my day it was TWO hamburgers, fries and coke plus change back from your dollar.

I also remember McDonalds giving out free cheeseburgers for every A you had on your report card.

When I was in middle school pops would give me a dollar a day for lunch, cafeteria or run a block to mc d's where two cheeseburgers and small drink came to 99 cents.

I remember when you really got stuck working on your vehicle you had to go to the public library and checkout a Chilton book.

I would always look at a local store that would get damaged/discontinued/etc stuff of all kinds for those books, since I could get them for $5 or less usually. Was telling my 9 year old (at the time) nephew that's how I learned and he was aghast that the Internet wasn't a thing.

I remember the first time I ate at a White Castle. It was in 1966 and we were staying with relatives in Kentucky, while my dad was in Vietnam.

My mom was disturbed that the hamburgers had gone from 5 cents up to 10. They weren’t bad. They weren’t real good. It was just food.

Trade the chrome wheels for white wagon wheels and the chrome grill for black and that's my '83, exact color & stripes.

Way back 1980, I would go to a used bookstore where all books were sold at 1/2 the original cover price and head straight Sci-Fi section and look for the vintage ones with cover prices of 25 to 50 cents. Easy way to pick up a couple books and walk out with change back from my dollar. Then next day go to the college bookstore and spend $25 to $35 for a single textbook.

As long as your waist stayed below the box you were good to go.
    No belts. No helmets.

Yep. Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth elementary school went K-6, junior high was 7-9, high school was 10-12. Our sixth grade class went on a Canadian study tour. We spent two weeks traveling from Northern California to Victoria British Columbia and back. Stayed in the Empress Hotel. Had one amazing pillow fight with our friends in the adjoining room. Til one of the pillows blew out and scattered feathers everywhere. Good times. Greatest moment of the trip was crossing the border and watching our teacher have to explain that the big box of swords that we were transporting were all replica sabers that every boy bought at the wax museum. If looks could have killed…

What kind of wild berries were we eating.

    Same here.
Except I went to a Lutheran grade school through 8th grade. Then one year at junior high.

Catholic grade school, rural Kansas in the '50 - '58. Eight grades, four rooms, two grades each. When I went to high school, I could read, write, do math, knew history. But I was in no way unique, most everyone could do those things in the 1950's, public or parochial schools.

When in 7th grade at the Lutheran school we were learning the metric system for the first time.
The teacher Mr Jording taught us that a liter was about the same as a quart and a shot.
