Watching this very closely. This would open up all the aftermarket bumpers for those of us who want to retain the bsm sensors!

I believe in you @buntcake!!! :fingerscrossed:

My BSM stopped working on one side after a carwash once. There was no warning light or anything to show it was broken; it just didn't detect vehicles any more. Pretty dangerous failure mode. I suspect the connectors are susceptible to water, but mine started working again before I got a chance to troubleshoot.

It happened to me after one got covered in mud. Cleaned it off and it started functioning normally after driving around for a bit. However, I never had it not turn on at all. It would illuminate the switch and say it was malfunctioning. Sounds like for OP it’s not turning on at all.

Were you able to figure out what was going on?

I accidentally ended up with a HC bumper a couple weekends ago. [IMG]

Wowowy wow wow! Looking very good there my friend! Which fabricator makes that one?

Haven't had a chance yet, work has been crazy lately so I've had to focus on that but I'll try to find some time this weekend to test things and try to find the issue!

Just posting my support. Would be awesome to get this working. I’m not sure why some of these manufacturers haven’t thought of this, it seems like a lot of work for one guy but someone dedicating a team working on it full time would be a snap if I had to guess.

It's made by BAMF. Came across a good deal on it used so I just jumped all over it... BSM be damned! But I did keep my sensors (and taped over the connectors) in hopes of following in your footsteps!

Haha yeah be sure to keep those connectors nice and protected! So mad at myself for getting lazy and just leaving the tape off after doing some testing.

Yeah it seems many other manufacturers are putting them in the tail lights. Ford, Ram, Jeep all off the top of my head do that.

Apogee Offroad has a replacement bumper that incorporates BSM in the way that you describe. They were working on a high clearance dual swing out version of that too but unfortunately have had to put that on hold. IMO, they should have started with that as that seems to be where the real need is. Most folks don't really need a replacement of the stock bumper, they're looking for something either high clearance or with a swing out. One other company, I forget which, originally made a swingout bumper that incorporated BSM in a similar manner (with plastic cutouts) but apparently it had a lot of issues and the BSM wasn't reliable.

I think you are referring to C4 Fab. They discontinued theirs.

Do you happen to have the part numbers for the BSM for Driver vs Passenger? I Installed my HC bumper over the weekend and when I went to test fit the BSM sensors I realized there are two different numbers on my sensors.
They both have part number 88162-04015 but under that there is another number. One has A2C74812610, and one has A2C74812611. I'm not sure, but maybe this has to do with which sensor is Master and which one is slave? Maybe these are just sequential serial numbers and it doesn't matter which one is connected to either side? I have them temporarily mounted with zip ties but they are not functioning. I can turn them on with the button in the dash, but the lights in the mirrors do not light up when I pass parked cars. Is there a time period or distance to drive for them to recalibrate themselves that anyone is aware of?

I don't actually, but I've used them interchangeably without running into a real issue related to parts being swapped. Granted, I haven't gotten them to work reliably just yet so take that with a grain of salt.

I zip tied them into my bumper and they worked fine for about 40 miles and then I got an error BSM not available. I think I’ll try to inst Techstream and order the tractix cable and follow the recalibration post with the foil DIY reflector and see if cleaning the BSM codes will get it working again.

I have the warfab phantom rear and mounted them in the corners between the tubes under the taillights.

    Nice try.
Tie wrap them to the outside of that bumper (at a 40-degree angle from the rear), too much metal is in the way. The units seem to operate seamlessly from right to left with the same part number.
