Was really hoping it'd come out as good as I imagined it; really looks like a fab shop made it versus just some dude in his garage drinking beer and listening to Rebelution:rofl:

It looks professional. I want a Kwikfab transmission skid for the 2nd gen. Can you duplicate this?

Crazy, they made that out of 3 separate pieces.

How wide (at it's widest point) is that skid and how tall?

Yeah the sides are anti crackhead shields.
It is 30" at the widest 15.5" at the narrowest and 21" tall.

That'll fit the table for sure

Wanting it cut out of mild steel right?

I haven't cut shit out of aluminum or stainless; stainless sheets aren't cheap and aluminum cuts best with gas instead of compressed air.

Mild steel is perfect. The tcase skid is steel and the front is aluminum so its all mixed anyway.

    This is the tcase skid

How thick is the factory transmission skid anyway? Isn't it like 16 gauge?

I think so, just thick enough to deflect a tumbleweed.

Just looked in the garage; I've got maybe 30" x 40" of uncut space on my 10 gauge sheet, and a completely brand new 4' x 4' 12 gauge sheet.

Either would be perfect for an 'upgrade' from stock.

Just not for wheeling unless we went 3/16" which I need to get more of.

I'd like to do 3/16 that is what the t-case skid is. I'm in no rush and will gladly pay for what is needed.

I'll swing by the steel shop tomorrow or the day after and see what they've got.

Just rather get a smaller sheet versus 4' x 4'...that'd weigh 122lbs and that's awkward AF to move around.

Haven't had much time today to do anything and it's definitely too hot to do shit now.

Anyway, thought I'd just check the skid's fitment with that minor adjustment of 1/32".

    Guess what?

    Fucker's mint.

    20230621_143028.jpg

And the bracket I made to clamp to the frame is perfect.

    20230621_143715.jpg

Fast method would be, make another bracket and use that to sandwich the frame.

Another that I like is getting a U bolt, and going around the frame in the form of a C just the way most sliders for these vehicles use.

Once I've decided, I'd just need to cut some square tube, weld the mounting bracket to each end, and bolt it all up.

Had a last minute idea last night to cut some "rings" to weld around the two rear/lower most slotted openings. This would protect the bolt heads in the event that they get hit.

That wasn't the biggest mod today though; finally installed that extra car seat base for the extra car seat we got from our baby shower.

Land Cruiser just went full dad mode :muscleflexing:

@Kwikvette here is a crude drawing with the numbers. Math may be off by a by an 8th of an inch on the angles.
    Does this make sense?
