Monitor. It's been on its way out for a while now. If it sits long enough the screen goes back to normal but it's taking longer and longer to get back to normal and I have now lost confidence in it lasting much longer so I ordered a new one.

I finally broke down a week ago and bought a real monitor to replace my 37" hd tv I had been using for the past like 10 years to pc game.
I bought a 31.5" MSI MAG321QR from microcenter on sale. I was going to buy a different monitor but they were sold out, and since I was already there and didn't want to wait for 'well it might come in on x day'.
I also bought a two monitor articulated mount, so my 24" acer is on the wall to my right, and my 31.5" is moved forward to facilitate me reclining in my corsair chair with my feet up. Has been a really fun experience and no more screen tearing! That was the biggest push for me to finally get something with a decent refresh rate. I think my tv was something like 50hz and this is 165hz. Finally have a G-sync compatible monitor too so that can only help.

The funny thing is I just went to buy a better Bluetooth adapter for $20 and ended up spending just under $400. The adapter helped a bit, I no longer have a dead zone 2' from my adapter like my old one did. It's enough to make it work where I sit, but if I have the PS4 controller any further than 5-6' it loses connection still. Not sure I can get much better than that unless you all have suggestions.

    PS4 controller.

EDIT: I'm also using the ASUS USB-BT500 currently. Previously I was using the ASUS USB-BT400. I looked up the Dualshock 4 controller specs and it said it uses bluetooth 5.1 so I figured getting a 5.X bluetooth adapter would help, which it did, but still isn't ideal.

Is the controller responsive with that adapter? I've tried to use my PS4 controller on some Android devices, but it lags with Bluetooth, but works great attached via USB.

Question for you guys, I am not a big excel user, I just got a new work machine and I opened excel for the first time and started a new document and the light grey "background" cells showing all the cells is pretty light. Is there a way to darken them so you can see them better? Here is a snip of what I am looking at. You cant even see them in the snip, but they are there on 2 of my 3 monitors, the 3rd one it appears totally white.

As long as I stay pretty close it's fine. I wouldn't play anything competitive like Call of Duty though as if you aren't careful you might break that invisible tether and get a huge input delay or repeated input. Otherwise I'm playing Far Cry 6 just fine. I also have 10' usb cable that I can use but it pulls out of the controller really easily which is almost worse than the lag from being out of the 'range' as it takes 5-10 seconds to reconnect via bluetooth or put the cable back in. I may try using it in conjunction with DS4Windows, but I've had mixed results prior with it, mainly input lag and no discernible range difference. Maybe it's been updated since the last time I used it though. It is nice though that you can fully customize the inputs with it though, including controlling the mouse with the touch pad. I think Big Picture Mode on steam has some of that usage, and is normally how the controller is detected when not using DS4Windows.

Too bad Sony discontinued their official Dualshock 4 to PC adapter a while ago, and I don't have confidence in any of the cheapy knock off ones that claim to work on Amazon. Those probably work just as good as this thing if not worse.

Wonder if a Dualshock 4 driver exists out there somewhere? Windows just reads it as 'input device' with a controller icon, but Steam automatically detects it as a PS4 controller. :notsure:

I think if you go into the grid settings, either from one of the menu tabs or from the settings/preferences themselves from the top bar you can change color and opacity.

    EDIT: Just found it.
Go to File > Options > Advanced > Display Options for this Worksheet > Gridline Color

I bought a similar setup to this for my phone/controller. Even though the devices are a few inches apart, the lag with Bluetooth makes games nearly unplayable. Something about Sony's Bluetooth implementation doesn't agree with Android for input devices. The wired option works, but the phone uses up the battery faster trying to charge the controller.

Yeah idk about mobile gaming, but yeah. It's definitely not easy plug n play like an xbox controller would be to pc. I just hope Sony comes out with something for PC since they are releasing more and more of their games onto Steam. I just saw a Ratchet and Clank game coming to Steam. It'd be smart on their part so they could still get controller sales from the PC audience.

Sony needs to release a dongle like Xbox did. Most people don't know this but you can buy an Xbox receiver for your PC to hook up multiple controllers wirelessly using one USB port. It also supports over the air controller updates and low latency 2.4 mode for Xbox.

    Nice!

I just added a second monitor, also in 2k, to keep me in line and stick with 2k gaming on my old card

I've been looking at going AMD. I currently have an Aorus something OC something something pro 3060Ti that I mined too hard on during that craze and it's pretty fried.. it's crashing after half an hour or so in Valheim because it was overheating and hitting the point of thermally shutting off. Tried to re-paste and re-pad and it only helped by 10ish degrees. It paid for itself though, so I'm really complaining haha.

I'm someone who likes to consistently maintain 120 FPS (running 1440p) and while I don't mind dropping a few settings to do so I found I was dropping enough settings that I was unhappy with how it looked.
The reason I went AMD this time around is twofold. One, nvidia's pricing this generation was just appalling and although amd's wasn't much better, it was better, especially now that they dropped the price of the 7900 XT a little more. Two, not only are nvidia's prices terrible, but so is their stinginess with v-ram. (Speaking of things that gave their money's worth) my 1080 TI has absolutely kicked ass. It was roughly 800 (I think) after tax at the time and that was a crazy price. If I were to go with nvidia's offering at that price today (the 4070ti) I would be gaining one single extra gig of v-ram which just felt wrong, not to mention for the same price is a better performing card from AMD. I probably could have strung along my 1080 TI for a bit longer but technology evolves so fast if you wait for "just one more generation" you never buy anything.
