Ordered the new Pirelli P Zero PZ4 Elects, in 235/40R19. These are so new in this size with electric vehicle tuning that I'm not able to find them anywhere other than TireRack. I must have a thing for freshly released tires, the Goodyear Electric GTs I'm running now were the same way, I bought them right at product launch. And on the Gladiator the C-load 37" KO2s released specifically for the Raptor, I managed to order the tires before their official release.

The Tesla has a service appointment with Tesla collision tomorrow afternoon to estimate the repair costs for both the bumper and the hood. Pretty convenient to manage the collision repair in the app.

Even while laying on the horn.

Lol. Tempting. 4.5lb weight savings for about $2k before paint. The stock Tesla hood is already light weighted via aluminum, so weight savings via carbon fiber are diminished vs steel hoods.

Wow. Shared in another group. Rivian is switching to the Tesla NACS, following Ford and GM.

This service center Tesla specified for the estimate is just a giant open warehouse full with dozens of lifts and Teslas, with a loading doc converted to entrance and exit ramps. Amusing.

What blows my mind at the service centers is how quiet it is compared to an actual service center at a dealership. You can hear each other speak easily opposed to voices being drowned out by power tools and other machinery.

Very true. The customer check-in was actually in the service center work bay, with them working on cars just dozens of feet away.

Lately I've had a few people question why? Why do you need to go so much faster? Why do you need such an expensive lighter setup? Why do you need your car to compete with supercars? Why isn't the stock M3P good enough? I've had people suggest to me that the need for speed is immature or doesn't fall in-line with my age.

    My response:

Wheels showed up today, and tires arrived at the tire center yesterday. Pretty quick delivery on both. The wheels are "space grey" and a little darker than resembled in the photo, I think it will look decent. I'm going to mount them as-is rather than spending another $800 on powder coating. I can always coat them later if I don't like it.

    IMG_1467.jpg

The Tesla is currently trapped in the garage for a few days while the driveway is being seal coated. I left the Tacoma out on the street since we have bike racing Friday night and the truck is needed for bike transport. I'll drop these off at the tire shop to get the tires mounted and swap the setup onto the car myself, which I feel better about doing anyway with the lift puck situation on the Tesla. I probably won't mount these until after the car is back from the body shop though, I've had a bad experience in the past with very light overspray getting on a cars wheels at a body shop.

If you were to add up all the wheels you've bought, separate from those which came on vehicles you purchased, I think you might be at or near my level?

I have 4 vehicles and 2 full sets of wheels for each plus one set of 4 steelies I bought and sold. And a 5th 7.5 wide for the Tundra winters I don't yet own.

Just wondering who is the most ridiculous when it comes to wheels. Toss up?

    Ever bought? :anonymous:

There is almost always a change on every vehicle (after I was no longer a poor college student), and there have been lots of vehicles… I want to say my current count is 10, counting the stack of new Tesla wheels in the kitchen.

Lesson here is don’t let your friend drive your supercar they can’t handle and do dumb shit.

I believe that particular Carrera GT had the original dry rotted tires. I know they have no stability control and possibly no traction control as well. Jay Leno had an "experience" with one on the track too. The Carrera GT is a phenomenal piece of Porsche machinery. :burnrubber:

Honestly never looked him up, looks like he was a financial planner that participated in a racing club where he met Walker. No Pro driving experience, just amateur race club. Porches can exemplify the perfect sports car experience in the right hands, but it is also really easy to royally mess up and get in trouble fast. Triple digit speeds on non-highway streets is dumb shit.

I bought the M3P for the performance, to use for spirited driving. I have 4 wheel drifted the Tesla against higher powered challengers and found the car remarkably stable and predictable in those conditions, just point and shoot.
