Shit show for sure! Yeah I agree it would have hurt like hell.

 

This is what I do as well if I haven’t been out on any trails in a while.

I’ve never had an issue with anything breaking or anything bad happening. I just do flat dry pavement with no turns, run it in 4 hi for a few miles and then back to 2wd. I usually keep it under 40mph and it’s always perfectly fine.

Good morning MD. Vacation is going as planned. No rain for the past month and now it’s blowing a nor’easter and raining. On top of that my truck has a loud clunking noise coming from the passenger side that I can feel in my soul when I hit moderate potholes at speed. I’ve checked what I can considering I’m on vacation. Nothing obvious with visual inspection. I’m wondering if I blew a 6112? No oil leaking from it so I’m not sure. I’m at 30k miles. Any idea?

Faulty sway bar end link can make a awful sound over bumps.

 

I dont mean to insult - did you check all the shocks? Sounds positively coming from one side can be actually from another area.

 

best way to check?

 

checking everything, sounds like it is under the passenger side under the passenger seat area

@Backdoc More things - Lug nuts; are the springs seated correctly and unbroken? check top of the strut mounts under the hood? exhaust hangers?

 

Did you get sway bar spacers? Maybe when the shock is extended it’s hitting the sway bar? You can look at the spring to see if there are scuff marks there.
If it’s over bumps, you think it could be the tire hitting the front or back of the fender? I wouldn’t expect this with your size tire though.

 

Get under there and pull, push & shake things. You got a new vehicle I’d be suspicious of bolts and nuts not properly torqued.

 

no, it just started doing this. It’s most noticeable at 40 mph plus and while hitting a rough patch of road. A loud clunking and I can feel it in my feet. It sounds/feels like it’s bottoming out.

Hmm, at 40mph. Maybe your skid plate is loose.

i know OME makes clunking sounds/feeling when going over bumps but I can’t say I read about it with the 6110s.
If it’s just started and the last thing installed were the sliders, you might just have to wait till you can check the bolt torques.
Could it be the kayaks in the back not being fully secure and “jumping” when hitting the bumps?

 

I emptied the truck. Took my recovery gear out from under the seat and it’s the same.

 

Ahh ok. I was thinking of that pic of your truck loaded up.
Does not sound like your shock is blown since there would be the oil and you didn’t see any.
I can help look when you’re back from vacation, if you need and have. Ot figured it out by then.

It is odd that it just started.
Last thing I can offer is to check your spare and see if it’s fully up. Maybe it loosened a little and not flush?
