Out with the old (4 years) gas range. I have come to hate gas ranges with a fiery passion.
    IMG_0328.jpg

and in with the a new Samsung induction range.
    IMG_0337.jpg

We also had to get new pans because our 30 year old set isn't induction compatible. I'm fine replacing the old pans as they are really starting to show their age. It has been a PITA replacing that gas stove. I did a bunch of research and chose an LG induction range. I ordered it from the local big box store and they said it will be 2 months. OK I'm willing to wait. Then the order slipped by a month and then a week, and another week and after 5 months of that I gave up. Samsung has a terrible reputation, but you can actually buy one. The only other ranges I could buy are the luxury brands that are literally 2x as much as the Samsung. So with crossed fingers I pulled the trigger on the Samsung.

It looks pretty "charred" to me. Probably over drawed and heated up.

Look up the thermoset vs thermoplastic insulation wire types.

I’m not going to talk about the actual wiring methods.

assuming the conduit from the wall is from the main panel, it looks like you only have 120V feeding the AC. From the picture it looks like the top right pole of the bkr isn't wired.

Hard to tell. Need a report back.

I've never seen a breaker/box like that and #10 too small!

It doesn't but it is. I also measured the voltage at 239v to be sure.

What did you measure across? Black to Red on the bottom side of the breaker, or black to "white" on the top side of the breaker? Did you happen to measure from Black to Ground on bottom and from Red to Gnd on bottom side of breaker?
