    The title was....interesting.

I do recommend reading the article in full though. For a left leaning publication source they do speak to the importance of AM and (non-political) reasons it may be a good idea to keep it.

Diving into the editor has been a fun five minutes too, not much info so far on the author though.

Ford gets 9.2 billion for battery factory facilities.

(If I remember correctly, Ford was the only American auto maker that did not take a bail out.)

    https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2023-ford-ev-battery-plant-funding-biden-green-technology/

A deep-pocketed US government program designed to finance futuristic energy businesses is issuing a conditional $9.2 billion loan to Ford Motor Co. for the construction of three battery factories. The enormous loan — by far the biggest government backing for a US automaker since the bailouts in the 2009 financial crisis — marks a watershed moment for President Joe Biden’s aggressive industrial policy meant to help American manufacturers catch up to China in green technologies.

Holley Offers Bolt-On Kit for Tesla Swap in Chevy C10 Pickups

Once the adapters are installed, a Tesla dual-motor drive unit can be bolted right in. However, the rear suspension is dropped 4-6 inches versus the stock height once the new unit is installed. The front must be dropped as well to accommodate for this. As a result, the kit is only suitable for street rods. Different wheels are also necessary because of the new bolt pattern, and they need to be 10 inches wide with around 8 inches of backspacing to accommodate the wider track of the Tesla hardware.

Interesting how that loan from the DOE panned out.

The aftermarket industry needs to step up with conversion kits. This is cool

Thanks for the link - I keep toying with the idea of converting my wife's X90 to electric. It would be the perfect grocery getter, but the lack of support and cost have been in the way. The good news is it looks like Holly "gets it" as they have quite a selection of parts.

I would like to swap my k5 into a plug in hybrid using the colorado diesel. But here is GMs example of their turnkey kit in a k5 -which has been around for a while.

Volvo joins the network, Lordstown files bankruptcy, and Teslas continue to crash into stationary trucks tending to the highway.

I'd forgotten about that system. Just looked it up and they say mid 2023 for limited deliveries to authorized installers only. It's probably not in my future, but each baby step in the right direction helps.

The Charger standard is irrelevant to me. Just having reliable stations should be a top priority.

I agree reliable stations should be the priority, and this is how you get them. I just got back from a 9,100 mile road trip with 65 Tesla Supercharger visits. There was not a single problem with any one of those visits. In the past Electrify America and others didn't have to provide good service because who was the competition? Other crappy providers? Tesla knew they had to provide a reliable service or no one would buy their cars. Tesla allowing other brands to use Superchargers is challenging EA and the rest with a legitimate competitor. Tesla stands to make money and EA and others can either get their act together or go out of business.

True, though the NACS connector is much more elegant and nice to use. I have a CCS to NACS adapter and it's comically big. If we're going to settle on a standard (and we have to), I'd rather it be the slimmer and sleeker plug.

Petrol, petrol is the world standard our currency is even backed by it. You can find a gas station in the most rural parts of America, as well as the most economically challenged urban neighborhoods in America. Gas it's everywhere.
