    Stuff. Also things.
Yep, that’s my experience as well. That’s why we can’t have nice things!

I thought about that. Seems like a ton of work, but every two years isn’t terrible. It’s still pretty silly, though.

Understanding that I don’t know shit about shit, it seems like if a stand-alone like a Haltech could support the native OBD2 protocol and pass codes through just like the ECU, who cares? I wouldn’t want to lose the OBD2 functionality anyway.

I guess haltech has actually added support for OEM OBD2 CANbus output since the last time I checked. Ready to be the first to test it out?

As an auto I use the haltech as a piggyback system and the OEM ECU still tries to manage the trans. But in this process the ODBII port has lost more and more data streams coming from the OEM ECU because the haltech has taken over management.

I have been using a scangauge in my truck for years and really like it. Haha, somewhere Zane is rolling his eyes at this. But the last straw for using the trucks OBDII port came when we recently added a new intake air sensor the the SC and eliminated the MAF.

I now have the SG connected directly to the haltech. I do get most of the important (to me) datastreams but I am missing two of them that I really liked from before. First and most important is the auto's fluid temps. The other is the trip functions, tank MPG and distance to empty.

I've had so many opportunities to destroy that thing and claim ignorance and I've held off because you're my friend. But don't you go recommending anyone else use one, Scangauge is the WORST OBDII ever imagined. Just all around terrible implementation of technology

Haha, In my defense, at the time there were no other options if one wanted to use OBDII and be able to see trans temps.

    @Taco critter

As done up and badass as that setup is, that 3.8 is dog shit

The 3.6 that came in MY 2011 and newer was an upgrade in terms of power and reliability, but you'd want to steer away from 2011 and 2012 models as they had head issues; manufacturer recognized this and extended warranty on those to 125k miles

With that said, the 3.8 had shit for power, wasted more gas, had EGR issues, cracking manifolds, overheating, and more

It's the same "high output" 3.8 from Chargers during that time frame

If I had to get a Jeep, it'd have to be the older inline 6 before they moved the fuel rail over the exhaust manifold

I put one of those in the 4runner recently. It is basically the same thing as a scangauge. It does nothing knew. The only real difference is how it displays the data. It is still totally reliant on the OEM ECU's datastreams..

I never had a scangauge to compare; just that I had an ultragauge

And I would've gotten a scangauge but I think I got the ultragauge for aesthetics?

Only scangauge I've seen is in @eon_blue truck and he's never had a complaint about it

Eh my complaint is that it's not super user friendly, it's nice and compact but as a result you only have a few buttons to use to access features. And if you need to program it to show something not included, or program in codes to show you emissions data...total PITA. Versus something like Torque Pro which shows all that stuff without having to program anything, and can show multiple gauges on the screen if you want it to. But then it's using your phone, drains the battery fast, etc.

Having a separate device to run Torque Pro exclusively is probably what I would do next time

The o ring on the suction hose blew out releasing Freon. Is an after market o ring ok to use or should replace the hose?

also since the Freon was released can I replace it without evacuating the system?
