Should I?

I have my taco up for sale and want around 18k for it. I met a young guy who was just married and starting out. I really liked him and feel compelled to sell to him but he can only come up with 15k. Would you take the time and effort and post my truck on Bring a Trailer or sell to someone who reminds me of me yrs ago and help em out. I'm thinking about it

 

Do you need the karma points? Are you in a hurry to sell? What does Carvana et al say is your rides full retail?

 

We are in no hurry to sell and I have had offers from sites and brokers for around 10ish. Idk I'm asking a lot of people for opinions because I do believe 15 is a steal for my truck but I feel the universe telling me to think about this guy. I do believe in going with my gut but with two new babies I'm not sure I have the desire to put forth more effort to sell for 5 extra thousand theoretically. The truck is loaded with suspension and low miles at 96,xxx and mint interior.

I think it all comes down to how much effort are you willing to put into that extra $3K?

Spending on big ticket items seems to be slowing lately, so the market isn't as hot as it used to be in my experience. If you have a $15k offer in hand, I'd really consider it, but not really for the karma points (though it may help you sleep better at night)

 

If the $3k isn’t a make or break for you, then I would sell for the $15k. Think getting $15k for it is a good deal

 

I’d probably sell it.
Why? Because people have helped me.

If I did sell it, I’d let it be known, that I would be highly disappointed if I seen the truck for sale, or with a new owner next week.

 

So you could bought one new for about 22 to 24 k in 2014, so I cant see how you are givin it away at 15

 

$15k cash for an 08 single cab? Take that money and run.

 

Seems fair depending mileage condition etc. It is 15 yrs old, mods to the the truck are only worth extra to a limited group.
If he has made the offer of 15 you want 18 tell him 16 you want he offers is usually just a start to get for cheap or as much as I can kinda.

 

He’s in commiefornia he can easily get 17 to 20k in SoCal all day everyday

 

I’d give it to him for 14.5k. Just because.

 

Or he lives in the South Bay Area and he could walk out one morning and it would be gone… south of the border gone! And insurance might cut him a check for $7,850 after 6 months of police reports etc.


In 2008 that truck sold for probably around $19,500. Selling it today for $15k take the money and run.

 

Need someone to show up with cash. $20k is a lot for such a vehicle.

 

16.5 or hit the road, he's playing the " I love it , but I only have this much game ".

 

It was 2001 or 2002 when I bought my first truck. 1984 GMC C1500 it was for sale for $1800 I offered the old timer $1200 he came back with $1400 and we agreed.

I came back with the cash to pick up the title and drive it home and he said $800 is what I owed him. He was in is 80s and I was not even 20. He helped me out a lot on that price, and that savings paid for insurance for the next 6 months! That went a long way.

I'd take the $15k. i'll be selling my 2015 soon and just asking for $20k settling for $17-18k. have you checked with carmax?

 

Yeah I have had lots of offers at 6-10k from dealers. I have met with this guy and had some beers with him ( he brews in my town) I really liked him and we decided to make a deal. I think we may be friends now lol. He lives around the block from me as well so that's kinda funny. I honestly feel like it was the right move. Now to find a non shitbox with 4 doors to buy for hopefully 6k.
