Hey guys I was wondering if anyone could help. I’ve attached a video below. I installed a k&n series 77 cold air intake on my sr5 a few days ago. First mod I’ve ever done to any vehicle. It sounds amazing and runs smooth. But today I started noticing these “bloop” noises when I’m in idle. I’m not sure if this is normal or not, and was hoping someone could help. It’s only when the truck is idling.

You do know that cold air intake for a stock tacoma won't do a lick for more performance. If looking for more mental intake noise, you got it. As a side affect, it'll draw in more dirt to the engine.

Could be a pulse coming back up the intake from an intermittent valve related issue. Put a vacuum gauge on it and see if it shows a pulse when noise occurs. If it shows something you could try and kill individual cylinders to see if one stops the noise and then go from there. On older Ford's I have seen the idle control solenoid stick momentarily producing a similar noise. I would then unplug it to see if the noise goes away. Not sure if Toyota uses one and I have not needed to learn Toyota engine controls since my 2021 has no issues. Also Zoo truck says it all, especially coating the MAF with contaminations.

A bit of a PIA, but I'd put the OE intake back on and see if it goes away. There are no coincidences as they say... but who knows? If it only appeared after you worked on it, that would be my first plan of attack.

Best of luck and let us know how it goes.

Putting an aftermarket air intake on your Tacoma is a guaranteed way to make your wallet lighter and give you absolutely no performance benefits. You aren't outsmarting the Toyota engineers. If anything, it will give you worse performance and create issues.
