JDM 2005 Subaru Forester STi

All Subie enthusiasts know that an STi variant of the Forester was never sold in America; I thought this was just a heavily modified turbo Forester, until I saw that it was RHD. The owner knows people and was able to get it America well before the 25-year loophole kicked in; I'm jealous!

There was a museum in Tennessee that managed to get a 2015ish Honda roadster from Japan into the USA and obtain a title for it totally legally, on the grounds that the car was not used as a daily driver and for educational purposes. There's also the "show and display" law that allowed people to bring Nissan Skylines and Porsche 959s into America well before the 25-year loophole would start for those vehicles...

 

People seem to be turning Subarus into legit off-road vehicles these days, like this 2004 Subaru Outback...

As all of my followers on here know, I am obsessed with the Mitsubishi Delica, more specifically the 3rd Gen L300 sold from the 1986 through 1998 model years (including from 1987 to 1990 in America, as the Mitsubishi Van). @Stitchgirl90 is learning well how to pick specific vehicles out of a crowd, and spotted this Delica L300 at RADWood before I did!

I initially preferred the angular styling of the L300 to the more rounded styling of the L400, but the L400 (also called Space Gear) has grown on me since I first drove both generations in February 2022. I have no idea what engine the white L300, but the 1996 L300 that I drove had the underpowered 2.5L turbodiesel that wouldn't hit 70 MPH on the turnpike. The L300 that I drove had the ubiquitous gas-powered 3.0L V6, which overheated on me. This L400 has the 2.8L turbodiesel, which the owner told me does not feel the least bit underpowered!

 

This Delica has the Chamonix trim level; Delicas were available with numerous oddly named trim levels, and I don't really know the difference, but the one I drove was definitely not a Chamonix...
