So looking forward to more bumps with Olivia. So far it seams like speed bumps don't bother her too much. The ones at are local Safeway are massive for some reason.

We are not ready to do mall crawling yet. I don't have a RTT, traction boards or jerry cans.

yeah part of me feels bad jumping in on the meme wagon relating to this tragedy but...it's the internet, the internet is a godless, shameless place so why not.

For real though, I believe they are officially out of oxygen by now so this is more of a recovery mission instead of a rescue one. I can't help but wonder how it went down inside the sub, if they did their best to conserve air or if they started turning on one another...less breathing bodies, more air for the rest. Maybe there is one of them still standing...

I can't imagine a rotting body is an better than a breathing one

yeah at this point I would definitely not want to be a part of the team that has to open that thing up, if they find it.

I saw this earlier. It would almost be more humane if it crashed and they died instantly.

yeah they were already some 6k feet down when they lost communication so definitely deep enough for the thing to implode if it suffered some kind of structural failure = instant death, better than a long drawn out one.

You could lead a horse to water, but if he's got his eyes closed to what's in front of him, how will he know to drink it?

Helping this dude on the CNC page and he's refusing to believe what I'm suggesting is happening.

Oh well, least I'm not wasting material :burp:

Current thing I read was it was the rear cover and landing frame that was found. So the pointy bit at the back and the feet under the submersible. Being that those are major parts of the whole system, it indicates it fragmented aka major system failure.

Sounds like they had some fail safes that should have made it surface after 20 hours or so, so my bet is on the carbon fiber collapse or a broken window, both of which were pointed out as weaknesses in the design. Given it’s been through a bunch of cycles already, it would probably have gotten weaker each time till pop.

yeah there were like 7 emergency surfacing features it had? Thrusters, jettisoning the landing frame and other parts to force it to rise, weights with dissolvable attachments in case everyone is unconscious...

what I don't get is why they painted the thing white, should have been bright orange or something so if it did surface with everyone unconscious they would be able to find it more easily, versus looking for a small white craft in rough seas

I had seen it posted from Sky News elsewhere. The breifing will probably carry additional information.
