I like their perseverence, "too busy to be a victim" " busy finding neighbors and family"
It seems here if a person saw a tsunami in the states they think they can sue someone,or are a victim , even when they werent there.... they were 20' to 200 mi from there. Among us are those who take "rights" too far, when they are actually falsely concieved or percieved "rights".

Search for Chernobyl as well. They are differant reactor types, but a meltdown would still cause widespread radiation related problems. The isotopes involved with contamination have half-lives of 10k years. It would be half as active in 10k years.

Only one reactor needs to have an internal steam explosion to send the fuel and byproducts skyward. The wind and how violent the explosion was will dictate where the fallout will go.

And compared to the Chernobyl issue, this is much bigger when you consider the relative population densities of the two regions.

for the sake of accuracy you also said that sterilizing california could only be a good thing... so you technically did say something about the residents

You aint lying:( this is NOT light in any way shape or form.
J andrews-I don't want to carry this out too far-but WTF do you think would happen to the residents IF fallout came to us here in your hateful word "sterilization" and your other hateful words "burn to the ground"<<you proved my point right there..fallout would damage the residents not the land. You expect me to believe you meant to say you hate THE LAND??? Come on man. I live in California. In San Francisco..the WORST part IMO of California-I live what you seem to hate every day-I hate a lot of what goes on here too BUT I wouldn't come close to saying what you said in here with that gas chamber mentality you seem to have in your head. It'll come back on you.

I'm not particularly concerned how you choose to interpret the statements. That's up to you.

The terrain works to their advantage, but a westwind would be bad.
We have entire states that don't have as many people in them as one city in Japan. ie. A large and well-populated state, not Montana.

Concerning the lack of looting: lived in japan for three years. These people have a culture of concern and mutual respect and definitely one that does not include an expectation mentality, unlike those who populate 87% of New Orleans (prior to Katrina). While those residents played victims and in large part a gross disregard for individual responsibility, the Japanese do not tolerate laziness, greed, or a welfare mentality. These ate honorable people who have been dealt a horribly horrific tragedy. God bless them and all those working to help these people from near and far .

    you're not very smart huh?

a : to cause (land) to become unfruitful

Cali produces alot of food so you would be affected by this sterilization

b (1) : to deprive of the power of reproducing <surgically sterilize cats and dogs> (2) : to make incapable of germination

this could include people and their ability to reproduce

c : to make powerless or useless usually by restraining from a normal function, relation, or participation

restraint from normal function, relation, or participation (so what would you mean by this definition?

d : to free from living microorganisms

    so... kill everybody

I would argue I just pay attention to detail, and most don't.

    I never said I wouldn't be.

It could. Did I specifically claim that definition?

That function, relation, and participation by California would be abnormal.

In what biology textbook did you read that human beings were microorganisms? We are very, very macro my friend.

Additionally, it's worth noting that the state could be freed from microorganisms by sending all the microorganisms on a Caribbean cruise. Just, you know, as an option.

As best I can tell, the primary containment is intact on all the units. The Reactor Coolant System is intact on all of the units except the ones in a maintenance outage. There appears to be some amount of fuel damage at one or two of the units. Fuel clad, Reactor Coolant System, and Primary containment are all engineered barriers between the bad fission products and the public. 2 of 3 of these are intact at all the units. I read today that new power lines are being run, and are nearly complete, which will greatly improve efforts to cool the reactors. There are also the spent fuel pools that require cooling. Reports are that some of those temps are elevated. They are not in containment buildings like the reactors and pose some risk from loss of cooling. In all, I take all these news reports with measured trust. Mainly because I can find problems with almost all of them and their "facts". The supposed spent fuel pool that is on fire is odd because the fuel assemblies are ~12' tall with a foot or two of water below them and 23' of water above them. Short of the pool liner being cracked, it's hard to imagine how it could be on fire.

I lived in Japan for two years. This is a bad event happening to a good group of people. In all, unless something really takes a turn for the worse, the tsunami is going to turn out way worse than the problems with the reactors.
