I doubt if an R2 would carry much over from the 1series. Midsize range probably would not be on par with the 1 series, and the other midsize ICE vehicles retain their value very well Tacoma being the leader. Unless you really like Rivian, or you want an electric it doesn't make much sense to me to go R2. The 1 series makes more sense even at it's price point, over the R2.

Even from Rivian's perspective bringing a midsize EV to market now, makes no sense. It's going up against al new midsize trucks from everybody who builds trucks. Is the R2 an SUV only? I can't recall, even that segment has a lot of competition 5th gen 4R, a relatively new Grand Cherokee. The upcoming GX550 all those come in over $40k.

No one knows what the R2 vehicles will be. No one has any real in depth knowledge of what gen 4 Tacomas will be in real use. It’s a pointless consideration. About the only thing known is that nearly any EV will outperform any ICE vehicle for typical daily driving tasks.

Of course. If the price were the same the Rivian would win without a doubt.

Performance isn't a relevant metric for the vast majority of vehicle buyers, it just isn't.

How are R1 and RS sales doing new and previously owned? I have no idea. I just read the headline Rivian to start R2 pricing at $40k, and think really! That's how they are going to make money?

It would be interesting to hear some shop talk from other auto industry CEO, what they think of Rivian.

I have no idea, but sometimes you hear things and it just sounds like that isn't going to work. Like visiting the Titanic.

Performance is absolutely a relevant metric for buyers. Once again you are just talking out of your ass.

Some people performance is important, other people it is not. There are probably more people buying vehicles that care about performance than those who don't. What about Rivian sales? How are they compared to other manufacturers? Both Ford and GM are selling way more ice trucks compared to their own EV offerings.

You’re thinking of “performance” meaning they are racing around but it’s something you can appreciate daily in an EV just pulling into traffic.

I see people driving air cooled VW. They are driving them for fun, but they are still driving them. I think most people want a car that will go when they depress the accelerator. Many roads are 30 mph pulling out in to traffic isn't as tuff as you are making it out to be.

Where did you hear there will be a $40K Rivian?

I assume you’ve never driven an EV that has some performance.

No I inadvertently support EV manufacturers through their ice offerings.

They are going to need for you to step up your support 10x because the BZ4X is like a 10 year old Tesla Model S when it comes to charge speed (BZ4X is actually much worse from reviews) and range.

I saw a diesel truck hauling about 9 Teslas today. When is Tesla going to build a semi that can haul more than cheetos?

You do understand that’s a trailer attached to the semi truck, right?

I always get a laugh when driving next to their gas powered Ford Transit mobile service vans.

That has never been used by a transportation company to move Teslas.

Obviously they are still waiting for their preorders. Are you expecting Pepsi to start delivering Tesla’s with the semis they’ve received instead of their own products? Another genius idea from you…
