It is a fun car to cruise around with, easy to drive, no blind spots - the 60's style thin pillars. Not bad on fuel either, about 18 mpg usually.

 

My ice cream trip car.
It had 42,000 miles when I got it 7 years ago, about 54,000 now.

 

Thankfully, in pretty much every state but California, they don't give a shit if you swap the engine in a 1980s car for something newer...

 

Factory A/C?

 

This one is all factory original, the interior looks showroom new except for the dust, I run with the windows down all summer.

 

Yes it does.
Ford offered 2 systems:
1) Ford Air - under dash dealer installed
2) Select Air - factory integrated into the dash like a modern car
This car has Select Air.

 

And it works?

 

No, it is all complete but the compressor is locked up.

With the front windows, wing windows, floor vents, and tailgate window you really don't need it so I never got around to fixing it.

Remember, air conditioning was an expensive option back then. The cars of this era were designed to be quiet at road speed with the windows down, you can easily carry on a conversation at 60 mph, the only time it is noisy is if there is another vehicle passing on the highway.

All the modern vehicles are tremendously noisy at road speed with the windows down because the window design is optimized for minimum drag not minimum noise.

 

My uncle in California wanted to do a Subaru swap in his 1977 Volkswagen Westfalia (which is presently registered as an antique at his brother's house in Texas because it won't pass smog in California), but the California smog nazis have prohibited just such a swap...

 

I'll stab, it's in the middle of the dash I bet
