LS6 Swap 2nd Gen Build + New Tundra

Well got a call from AZ driveshafts. Rear driveshaft is done and fine but there was an issue with the front. Something about there not being a whole lot of room because the floor is in the way. They’re going to get me some pictures tomorrow. I told them to just do what they need to do to fix it.

 

They're going to tunnel out the part where it's interfering. Going to be a little bit before I have the truck back I guess.

July 24th I have my final appointment with 454 to mount up fiberglass, get a bumper made, engine crossover support, and just buttons some things up.

 

Cut that extra reinforcement rib and run itttttt

 

That’s what I was thinking but what do I know. They said they want to tunnel it so maybe I’m missing something.

 

Pretty sure that'll self clearance...might make some funny noises in the process though

I need to take some pictures, but I have the truck back. I dropped the transmission last night and got those fittings changed, and now there's no more leaks. I got power steering lines made, so thats taken care of. Still need to clearance the front driveshaft and bleed the coolant, but my bleed tool isn't fitting on that stupid aftermarket radiator.

Ill come back with pics tonight.

took it for its first real drive around the block, started to overheat. I let the coolant overflow resivour get dry and I think it sucked air. Guess I’ll have to rebleed it. The truck is also in 4WD. I don’t know which direction to move the NP261HD for 2WD but I’ll figure it out lmao.

No I’ve been lazy recently. Need to rebleed and try again.

I sold the supercharged Lexus RC and picked up an IS500 so I’ve been playing with the new toy a little bit.

 

Not bad. Not bad.

 

I can’t figure this shit out. Tried vacuum bleeding a second time and no luck. The heater in the truck is getting hot like it’s supposed to but I’m not feeling the coolant hoses getting warm at all. The truck is still overheating. I’m not sure what to do. Any ideas here anyone?

 

Thermostat stuck?

 

I replaced it.

 

double check hose routing is only thing I could think of. Or maybe a bad water pump? I’d run it with thermostat removed and see if that changes anything.

 

Replaced the water pump too because that’s what I thought it was. The radiator is rear mounted, does hose routing matter?

 

I don’t think enough to cause overheating but I believe typically the hot outlet from the engine goes to the bottom of the radiator and the top of the radiator is the return.
