No splicing of any lines. You would remove the USB port from the panel. Keep it plugged into the factory harness. Plug the male end of the extension to the factory USB that is now behind the dash. I used electrical tape so that it won't wiggle loose. Now run the female end of the extension to inside the glove box. You will be cutting a spot for it. I have mine on the left side of the glove box. Really, with the extension you could run it any where that is out of site and easier than routing the cable to the glove. Endless options with the extension.

I feel like I should mention that if you don't currently have Apple Car Play the wireless adaptor will not work. I could be wrong here but, I think it will only work for 2020 and up, maybe 2019 and up. I have a 2017 so I did this work for nothing and I have a wireless adaptor thats been sitting on my desk for a year.

Like those removable plates. Don't remember seeing those before. Is that a new thing.

Good stuff  Unfortunately Toyota changed the size of the USB port on newer Tacos, so I’m searching for something to fill that hole if I relocate it to the glovebox. More here.
