It poured around noon. By 3 when the party started, the rain had stopped, the sun came out, and it remained dry the rest of the day. Last guests left around 11:30. So I'd say the graduation party was a success.

Good morning PA. Grass looks good now, after several days of steady rain.

First time in over 10yrs. I went for a bike ride. As a smoker my lungs are whopped. Just under 10miles. That's jot alot for some people but for me it's a good starting point. Shows what I'm capable of doing. Definitely didn't bring enough water with me.

Out-fucking-standing! Great job, it can take a lot to get over that first push to go out and do something physical. The hardest part is that first step, in this case, the first bike ride. You've overcome the proverbial inertia and turned your potential into kinetic energy, energy in motion. Again, that was the hardest part. Now all you have to do is maintain that motion! Once a week, or every other week, keep hitting that ride and keep pushing. You've got this!

PS - do you still smoke? It's not too late to reverse some of the effects...

I do still smoke. I've tried several times to quit its very hard. I quit drinking hard alcohol in 2015. That was the biggest hurdle. I plan on taking the bike out daily if possible. The first 1/4mile was the hardest after that went a bit smoother. When I got home I sat down then went to walk down the stairs both legs gave out at the same time.

Ouch! Did you happen to stretch before/after the ride? I'm only in my 30s but even I need to stretch before and after, because that's a rough form to hold for prolonged periods.

It's not easy feat but it can be done and it is 90% in your head. It took me 3 attempts before I finally gave up the habit after 15+ years of it. Finding your way through little victories can be hugely helpful. If you find daily it too much to start, give yourself space and go for 3-4 days a week. And hey, if you need a motivator or someone to remind you why trading the smokes for that ride are important, just let me know.

    warming up > stretching

Regardless of your age, if you do a 2-4 minute warmup before any exercise activity it will be infinitely safer than if you do stretch and then jump into a workout.

I'm 38. And honestly probably should have stretched before hand. Once I get myself in a routine I'm sure everything else will be fine.
Haven't taken the best care of myself for a long while now. Time to change that around. I'm 6'2 250lbs. Trying to cut back some weight to help my knees out. I can't run it puts to much pressure on my knees. I also shattered my right leg years ago and have no feeling in my right foot. Biking just makes it easier for me.
