This is my set up the rack can be lowered and raised, at its lowest is slightly lower than the top of the cab. I have it set just above the cab to haul a two story ladder but it can be raised higher.

After you break it in, steady as she goes, you'll probably be ok with the 'pep'. It's a truck not a Porsche.... and we drive them because we love them.

I do like my A/Cab and if you pull the trigger you will come to love it your truck. I'd certainly buy a 2023 over a 2024 until it they have been field
tested ( by us ) for a few years.

The TRDOR is 95% the same as the TRD Pro. You're largely paying for the name with the Pro, especially if you're considering any sort of upgrades.

As for leather vs cloth seats: I have the cloth seats and am very glad I do. I'm much less worried about damaging them, feel like the require less maintenance, and the don't freeze/burn you on cold/hot days. I have heated seats, but I never use them although my wife loves them.

Yes, the 3.5L is slower off the line than the 4.0L. Tunes can help, but this truck makes power around 3500 RPM. It's slower off the line but has more acceleration up at speed.

My last truck had a 6' bed and I thought I'd miss it a lot. Turns out, I don't. I adapted pretty easily. I also have a bed extender if needed, but I mostly use that for peace of mind when hauling my bikes in the bed. Otherwise, the 5' bed hasn't been noticable for me.

I don't believe the dimensions are different. There are even guys out there who have put 3rd gen panels on 2nd gens to get the 3rd gen look.

You’ll be fine and will adapt . Power wise the truck is fine. The power band is just different . Plus once it breaks in its ok …. really . Very good truck overall

    Size matters :bananadance:

My 2005 Tacoma OR had the 5 foot bed. Loved that truck and drive it hard. The 5’ bad even get my nod for looks over the 6’.

Now I’m in a 2019 ORLB. And I still prefer the short bed visually a bit better. But I’d never go back to a 5’ box. I load my bed up with tools, building material, and sometimes camping gear. Even though it’s just an extra foot, I doubt I could go back to less bed space. Depending on your everyday use YMMV. But if you haul a lot, my experience is that the extra foot really makes a big difference a lot of times.

So I watched a video on the back seat differences between the TRDOR and the Sport. I love how the Sport back seat folds down flat while the TRDOR the bottoms just flip forward. I have 2 dogs & that's a very cool thing.

Another odd thing- a used 2021 TRDOR with 40k miles sells at the same price as new 2023, at least around here. That used one is at another dealer for $42,000
The truck I looked at today has a MSRP of $44,506 with discount it's $42,506. Out the door inc tax & lic it's $48,887.69
And is a TRD Pro worth an extra 8k? I also see the TRD Pro is only available in a 5 ft bed.

Can someone explain this? Aftermarkets: Appearance Protection $890.00 GPS Tracking System $1295.00 What is this?

Sounds like dealer add-ons that are probably worth $200.00 and they're charging 10x for.

These Pro vs OR debates are always amusing. There's only a $4985 difference between the trims. If you consider wheels, shocks, grill and TRD exhaust it's about a wash.

I understand you can get an OR for much less if you don't get the technology package, but if folks are making the comparison, let's make it as close to apples to apples as possible. Those are the folks that definitely should look at an OR or even an SR5 if you don't care about leather, moonroof or LED head lights. I did, so the Pro was a no-brainer.

Not as simple as you make it out to be.

The Pro is much harder to find and dealers are very proud of them.

Sadly MSRP isn’t the whole story.

I've arguably driven more Tacomas than 99% of folks on this site. 2nd gen definitely feels the best down low.

In a truck I like low end torque, over high end HP. The 4th gen Taco will destroy a 3rd gen off the line, and I can't wait to see it.

These hitch extenders are very secure with longer loads.

Your key sentence is quoted. If you want a pro, don't settle. Get what you want and you'll be happy. I would have been fine with OR, but by the time I found them loaded with the options I wanted it was only a few thousand less than a pro. The upgraded suspension and lift made it an easy decision for me. You can't go wrong either way, but it's best not to have regrets

Good point there. I was able to find a dealer that sold at MSRP.

I'm content with my offroad trim. Granted I've bought quite a bit of stuff to customize it including some pro bits and pieces. LED headlights are a must. My truck with the 5ft bed does 90% of what I need it to. I can always rent something else if needed.

It's your money, you'll be the one paying on it and looking at everyday, so get the trim and color you want.

Exactly what someone else said. I was liking the sounds of $2k under msrp at first. Over $6k for tax and license. Yikes. But that is probably out of your control. I do think silver is the best color for sure. I had an '07 and don't have an issue of 3.5 vs 4.0, but that is subjective. The better MPG with the 3.5 is noticeable. Crawl control seems gimicky to me. I'll never need to use it, but kudos to the guy who invented it. It looks cool. Overall, I think you're looking at a nice truck!
