Can we get one centralized list for shit to buy and prepare?

 

1. ORV permit and ORV Trail permit - two bumper stickers ordered here: https://www.mdnr-elicense.com (need to create username & password).
   
2. Recreational passport for getting into state recreational areas (like Silver Lake) - either order the yearly windshield sticker ($39 US) https://midnrreservations.com/store/product/-2147477802 or buy a cheaper day pass at the visitor center when you're there. Note the county-run ORV parks like Holly Oaks charge their own admission fees.
   
3. Orange flag that meets the requirements here: https://www.michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/orv-riding/silver-lake - also required at Holly Oaks. This can be purchased online or at vendors outside Holly Oaks and outside Silver Lake ORV area.
   
4. 5.56 ammunition for Flint optional (since their homicide rate is on par with some South American cities)

For anyone new to this, the Michigan DNR stickers are a brittle, tamper-evident design, breaking apart on removal. They need to be scraped off with a razor blade and scrubbed with alcohol remove the adhesive residue. Don't put the stickers on painted body panels. Powder coat is OK.

 

My old ones came off like butter...little thumb rub and some hot water...might have had some bad adhesive. I do notice the new ones have already started to fade....but yes, to the members that like to keep their trucks neat and tidy, I suggest the back window.

So just to firm things up......
I will be leaving my house (London) @ 0730ish Saturday July 29th.
Depending on bridge traffic should put me at Meijer (4475 24th Ave Ft Gratiot Mi 48059) around 0900. I will shop and gas up there and head for Holly Oaks ORV Park (14551 Shields Rd, Holly Mi 48442) arriving around 1200 ish.
We can all meet at Holly Oaks if you like or if you want to tag along with me, we can meet at the old Costco Warehouse (NW corner of Wellington Rd S and Roxburgh RD) at 0730 that is about a second south of the 401. Let me know if you want to meet there...there is a Tims and a McD's close by for those who need human fuel.
From Holly Oaks I ( and whoever else wants to) will be staying at Fairfield Inn & suits Grand Blanc. I stay there as I get a killer rate if you wondering why... also good variety of places to eat, gas stations ect in the area. Free breakfast as well.
Depart GB and head for Rocks and Valleys ORV Park ( 2435 E. Mannsiding Rd. Harrison Mi 48625) Park opens at 1000 and its a 1.5 hr drive from GB to the park so Im thinking a depart time around 0900 get us there 1030. Same thing applies for Sunday night stay ..Fairfield Inn & Suits (2525 university Park Dr Mt Pleasant Mi 48858) thats about 30 min south of rocks and Valleys on hwy 127. Same deal there, lots of food and gas ect in the area. Free breakfast as well .
Next day (Monday July 31) head for the dunes. From Mt. Pleasant to The dunes is about 2hrs, so we should get a half ass early start. The Dunes are open daily from 0900 till 2200 every day so we can certainly get our fill! I carry a portable propane bbq so I can have luch trailside wherever we go.... peel right down to Lake Michigan and crank out the barbee!!! I will stay in Hart Monday night @ Dunes Express and Suits (2248 N Comfort Dr Hart Mi 49420) ...no deals there just a clean hotel with a good pizza joint down the road and a car wash!! lol.
I think from there we can call an audible and head for the trails in the manistee forest...we have 2 days prior to discuss...so we can leave that end open.

I’ll be leaving the afternoon of July 28th and going home evening of the 31st. Have yet to decide where I’m staying as being 19 in the states is a pain in the ass because some hotels require you to be 21 to book.

Day 3: The dunes
