Nice truck. I love my 6 foot bed for family use. We load it up for road trips, camping and getting to the cabin. If you were used to the 6’ bed you may find it hard to adjust down to a 5’.

I could of been happy with an SR5. However, this will most likely be my last truck before retirement so I splurged for the TRD Sport DCLB. Only 4wd available in Canada so no choice there. Not that I would have gone 2wd.

TRD Pro is a beautiful truck. I’d love to have one in Solar Octane. Realistically, I’d never use it to it’s full potential. So It would be a waste of money. Also with only a 5’ box.

I drove my 1992 Toyota 3.0slow extra cab 4x4 for 14 happy years. The 3.5 is a rocket in comparison. As others have mentioned it is a little light in the low end until it gets past 3500rpm.

Very happy with my choice. YMMV.

GREAT looking truck. I'm torn between silver and lunar rock...and also the 5' vs 6' bed debate. I have some decisions to make.

I just want to know which dealer is giving you $2,000 off MSRP! I'll travel for that...my dad lives in SoCal. Spill it! Salesperson's name too!

Crawl control has worked great for me solo exploring in the mountains/foothills. Alot of nasty steep downhills, I find its great when you can set it to its slowest speed and lets you focus 100% on finding the right line. But, I would have still bought the truck without it.

We'll see. I hope the GEN4 is all it can be, and more.... I'm old and slow anyway and when it comes to beating someone off the line well...
that ship has sailed for me long ago LOL...

I’m only noting this in case it somehow affects your decision. Only one model option of the 2024 Tacomas will have a hybrid engine. The vast majority of options will have 2.7L turbo engines, not hybrid. Said turbos will probably solve the gutless transmission issue people hate about the Third Gen, but of course there will be other problems.

I'm just going by what the sales guy said. I didn't do any research until after I got home from the test drive. That's why I'm here.
Wife says I'm guilty of overthinking everything. She says BUY IT! I research everything to death.
Sales guy is the one that said the Pro was 8k more than a OR
There are no Pros anywhere near here so that's out.
I watched a pretty cool video on Crawl, seems it's better than some say. Impressive putting different tires on rollers & watch it crawl off- even with 3 tires on rollers.
Crawl seems less helpful than I thought in snow though. It worked in that FJ though. My 2wd snow experience should help me.
Why no front & rear locker offering? They can do the rear, why not the front? My 09 pre runner has rear locker and is 2wd
Dealer is the one that said 2024 Tacomas would all be hybrids & Tundras would loose the V8
Wife says I'm going to talk myself right out of this deal.

If you can get a descent deal on the 23, I say go for it! I have had my 23 TRD OR MT for almost 2 months, and loving it. By some of the posts it looks like there are work arounds to the shorter bed dilemma. The dealer discounting the truck $2000 is pretty darn good, as long as they are not adding a bunch of add-on's. I scored my truck for $1000 off MSRP + TTL/doc fee. It did have $1300 of PIO(port installed options) except for the oval tube steps all the options are things I wanted anyway. Good luck with the decision!

While I do have a 6' bed, when I move 12-16' lumber, I just open the rear window and run it through the cab.

Mine is a 2020 DCSB V6/Auto TRD-OR 4X4. No other options. It's a great truck. I'm ok with cloth seats, but yes you can get a set of Clazzios for about $550.
I kind of like the fact that it's a 'base' model of that trim level.
Just FYI, I have a BakFlip G2 trifold. I'm not sure if a rack fits with it, but it's a really good tonneau cover.

The 5 ft bed I can deal with. A rack or that hitch thing is a work around. When I say I'm carrying wood longer than 8 ft, that's maybe 3 times a year & a short 5 mile drive. In fact, the DCLB kind of looks freakishly long (no offense to the DCLB guys) the more I look at it. I found a rack/tonneau cover combo for $1700 on Amazon but it's one of those roll top deals that I'd need to do more research to see how much bed space it take up when open.

Here's the sticker & the worksheet. Another dealer wouldn't give me 2k off MSRP
And it does have a rear locking diff

Personally I tell them to nix those add-ons, especially the gps tracking!

What did you mean by one model option? It's supposed to be standard equipment in the Trail Hunter and Pro, and then optional in the Limited, Sport, and Off Road.

Can they sell you the tailgate air tag security package also? I would decline those two left side "services" and say you'll do the deal now if they drop em.

All I can tell you is in a snow storm, I shove it in 4 hi and never have issues driving the roads. And we get record snow falls here. I've never resorted to using sands bags, as it performs fine without them. I've even used 4hi in bad rain storms, with much more control, and no rear wheel spinning. On trail I've used 4low, but it's been rare. Only engaged Crawl Control a few times. Hadn't needed it yet, but happy to know it's there if I do. Same with the rear locker.

I've got no regrets with the short box, but my needs may be different than yours.

This is why I bought mine, I'd rather have the V6, and I found the right Gen3
