haven’t checked in a bit, but did you swap your rear axel? Now that I upsized rubbers, I’ll trim the fenders and then it’s time for gears. I love the e-locker that’s factory, but I know the factory unit is not the strongest

I've never had to use my locker... Does that mean I'm not trying hard enough? :anonymous:

Yeah 2nd gen tundra axle with the 10.5” ring gear. 36 spline axles and 5.29 gears with the E Locker. It’s a beast of an axle. Zuk said he’s probably going to stop doing them because the assembled 3rd is like 120lbs or something.

    Yes

Was it a full fab job to install it or was it fairly straightforward? Did you utilize the factory wiring? I’ve not heard of anyone else running the tundra axle. I’m starting to see people running 9” rears which is a full fab.

Full fab basically lol. The smarter thing to do is get a 9” from someone that has already adapted them for the Tacoma.

I just wanted to be dumb and different and keep it Toyota. Big things were plugging the axles and redrilling them to 6 lug pattern, brake lines, and adapting the driveshaft but they make u joints that are different sizes for doing that.

yessir, right up till you start breaking shit, its always on the back of my mind when i push that button, the Tacoma is my only IFS rig, maybe i just think its a weak link.

even though i havent had a lick of trouble with the ARB i sure do like Harrop (Eaton) i have them in both ends of one of my other rigs.

Front lockers are ridiculously handy and these front ends aren’t made out of glass either if you’re smart about it. I never broke a CV and used the shit out of it.

Only broke front axles before the locker. And both were the axle shaft not cv. Both times on the axle that was unloaded. Ever since the front locker I’ve just kept other things in the truck broken

That’s a great point actually. Locked front and rear gives you the best traction and less wheel speed and skinny pedal while crawling, at least when compared to an open diff. Let’s you be a bit more in control.

Posted in classifieds too but also posting here if anyone wants in

Anyone interested in 3rd gen RCI cat guards?

I'm trying to order a bud light skid (trans skid) but the website won't let me do the 20% off. Only the free cat guards offer

If anyone is willing to commit to them for $80 they can have the cat guards. They're normally $150

$80 covers the 20% off i would have gotten on the skid and half the shipping

Stuff that costs more than my wife thinks.
Also possibly (probably) interested. I'll take second in line though as it's an impulse buy more than a want lol.

Having the fan would be very handy in stop go traffic whilst towing up a grade.

As far as I know the 2nd and 3rd gens are step bro's. The frame/suspension geometry is identical. Different body's/computers/drive train.

Lot of armor like bumpers aren't compatible and mounting points dont line up without modification just depends on the piece, cant speak on a cat guard specifically but if the listing is for 16+ and not 2005+ from an aftermarket company there's usually a good reason:D

edit: put a sock in my mouth. Took the 2 min to google it and the listing is
    "Catalytic Guard | 05-23 Tacoma"
