So I was curious: what actually happens when you turn the crank?

The crank is what actually moves pac-man and the ghosts. The joystick moves, but is just for show. There is also a score counter that can be moved. the most annoying part for me was the dots. I feel that they could have been done with less pieces, but maybe it is a way to add contrast or something.

Ah. Looking at the picture for longer than a few seconds, I see what happens. Thanks!

    Just the basics
Pick a brick today. Couldn't resist all the trans-yellow 1x1 round tiles.

Doing this one. First Technic kit. Not quite sure how I feel about them yet. Does have some slick operating features.

I was a little disappointed in that one cause you can't see how the transmission works or the pistons move much when its built. I ended up taking it apart enough to only have the engine/trans so you can actually see the moving parts.
Sorry if I'm being to negative, it was a fun set to build I just expected more visual engine/trans.

No, I get it. There's a lot of inner workings that you probably can't see once everything is together. And those gears and pistons and what-not is a huge part of the appeal of it.

Value wise I thought that set was a good deal, and I had fun building it, but the BMW M1000RR was suuuuch a more technically pleasing build. You can see pistons, 1 more speed in the transmission, bigger overall scale.. but also like 3 times as much money. I have their earlier R1250GS, too, and it's amazing to see the leaps and bounds they made in their ability to style motorcycle sets in just a few years.

I may check the RR out. The Duc is supposed to retire at the end of the year so I didn't want to regret not getting it. Also wanted to try a Technic kit for a reasonable price.

Oh, fair warning though, it's sticker hell, I think it was two full large sheets. Still a phenomenal build. It took me close to 20 hrs if I'm remembering right.

Yikes. And stickers are my weakness! I have the worst time with them.

Ohh sticker note for the ducati, I put the foue stickers with the black stripe on the panels before they were installed so I could easily compare the sides and make sure they matched in placement side to side.

Haven't gotten that far yet. I'll keep it in mind though. There's been a few head scratchers while assembling.
