Well after 4 yrs of owning my 19 sr5 I traded in on a 21 t4r or. Got 29k for a trade in and I couldn't have been happier with that. Also got a good deal on the t4r.

Seating position is oh so much better. And the driving experience is night and day different. I was never a big complainer of the taco Trans and seating, but after driving the t4r the notice is huge.

I really liked my taco, but the t4r is just better suited for my current plans. And not to mention I get all the offroad modes and locking dif.

So far I've taken the running boards off, tinted windows and added a size larger wildpeaks and icon wheels. Next up is lift.

It crazy how much better the 4runners drive compared to the 3rd gens.

I still wish Toyota put the same drivetrain the 3rd gen.

Glad you're liking the new rig.

But seeing them side by side like that, hands down glad I have the Tacoma.

Welcome to the club! We picked our 4runner up a couple weeks ago and we're loving it. Probably putting new tires on the TRD wheels this fall. 20230618_133834.jpg

I’ve owned a 2016 4Runner trail (pre trd OR) a 1st, 2nd and now 3rd Gen Tacoma and a 2.5 Gen tundra. The 3rd Gen power train on the highway is by far the worst. When you get out of a 5.7 tundra and into the taco it’s very noticeable.

what I’m trying to say is it’s all relative, I traded the 4Runner in on the Tundra because it felt gutless. But everything has its strengths and weaknesses, all in what you want.

I have both... which make a good pair! Below is my Barcelona red Limited. It's great having a Tacoma with the bed, but the 5th gen 4Runner is well built. I as well like its 5-speed transmission better.

I never understood that. If they needed to use the 3.5 in the Tacoma for emissions reasons, why did the 4Runner get to keep the 4.0?

Because they needed an additional selling point to justify the price of the 4R as the more premium product. Gotta make the buyers feel incentivized to purchase the more premium product.

    Us 2nd genners have always known 4.0 > 3.5

People get upset here when we talk about it but a 3rd gen with the 4runner drivetrain would have been such a home run.
