After 5 years of being an average Tacoma owner simply changing my oil and rotating my tires, I decided to get serious about taking care of my Tacoma. My 2012 Tacoma has 210,700 miles and I bought it at 110,000 miles. I’m not certain of what maintenance was done with the previous owner.

This is the maintenance I’ve done so far and I wanted to see if y’all had any ideas for future maintenance or parts that need replacing.

Drain and refill of transmission fluid (3 times)
    Changed spark plugs
    Cleaned mass air flow sensor
    Changed serpentine belt
    Changed rear differential fluid
    Changed cabin air filter
    Changed engine air filter
    Changed front tire pads
    Changed front tire rotors
Got lug nuts replaced (some were shaven down and wouldn’t come off easily)
Rear brake shoes inspected and still have plenty of life
    Brake fluid bled and replenished
    Changed oil and oil filter
    Change rear shocks
    Changed Power steering fluid
    Changed front struts
    Coolant drain and refill
    Replaced radiator thermostat
    Cleaned throttle body
    Secondary air pump filter replaced

    Any tips are appreciated!

Well done. I’m in the process of doing an overhaul similar to you.
You got most of it done.

    Clean butterfly valve,
    Front diff fluid (if equipped)
    Transfer case fluid (if equipped)

Have you checked for rust, and fixed it?

PCV valve and hose replacement, clean battery terminals. Otherwise, your list looks like the one I just completed on mine, save for the auto-trans change. Good to go!

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Maybe a new oe tensioner pulley, idler pulleys, driveshaft ujoints and center bearing

If your u-joints are greasable I would give them some grease.
From the list I assume your truck is 2WD? If not, then I'd recommend changing front diff and transfer case fluids.

President McKinley w/KLM 203P and threw the roof antenna, ICON RXT leaf spring packs (position 2), Bilsteen 5100s, ARE Camper Shell, Pop & Lock tail gate, Dash Cam
I would also recommend taking off the serpentine belt, and then spinning all of your idler pulleys by hand to see if any have excessive play or noise.

Is the butterfly valve you’re speaking of in the throttle body? If so, I’ve recently cleaned it! There is some rust I need to cleanup, near the back right wheel well.

Great stuff! I replaced the PCV valve yesterday. I cleaned the battery terminals a couple months ago and replaced the battery.

When I replaced the serpentine belt, the tensioner seemed fine, but I’ll keep an eye out for it. I haven’t thought about driveshaft ujoints. How do I tell if they’re going bad?

My driveshaft is sealed, from what I’ve seen and read. And yes, my truck is 2WD.

I checked them a month ago and they seemed ok, no excessive noise or poor spinning.
