Got around to pulling the busted pump off the Mazda. The pry tabs on the half still attached to the block broke off just from wiggling to remove it after pulling the bolts and a couple test procedures with a percussive calibration tool show the aluminum is SUPER brittle. The break lines have HUGE grains visible in the casting. Betting either a big batch of bad castings got away to several aftermarket pump makers OR they're just cutting QC (no checks after cooling) and/or using inferior alloy to save a nickel.

    For fug's....

When the pump blew up it whipped the belt around such that it decapitated the ECT sensor and the camshaft position sensor.

Free 2nd gen rear bumper. Isn’t perfect by any means but it’s not rotted out and not chrome. Going in the dumpster next weekend if no one speaks for it. IMG_2275.jpgIMG_2274.jpg image.jpg

I'm in SC for a few days. So, if you're talking about the heat, it hit the mid 90s today. No rain... yet. Supposedly severe thunderstorms, but nothing so far.

Not the hottest place I've been, but it's sure nice to have AC in the house and the truck.

In a weird parallel - i think ford should have brought the ranger back as the F100 or F50 or something else. They made it "meh" so that it didn't cut into the F series sales as "the best selling vehicle for 11000 years".

Finally got the boat in last night. Picked it up from storage like a month and a half ago, but I've been stupid busy. Towing is much nicer with the LC200 vs LC100. 100 would do it but it was towards the upper limit of tow capacity. The 200 makes towing no factor. Kids are also obsessed with 3rd row seats for some reason. Got bilstein 6100/ 5160s in and Firestone airbags for the ass end. Now I just need to find time to install or bite the bullet and pay someone:anonymous::spending:

Thanks! We're going up in a couple weeks to "dry run"/plan - the route up to Quill Hill is a big one we're going to work on, I'll add all this in there.

My POI map on google looks like a jackson pollock painting, should be a good day!

My camp is in Eustis so basically that area I have a decent idea on stuff. If you continue past that scenic pull off you'll see it will become lots of pine, that's the Cathedral Pines which is the largest old growth area of Red Pine in the state of Maine. That scenic pull off is on Flagstaff lake which is the largest (maybe 2nd largest) man made lake in Maine and was made by flooding the Dead River to make a hydro-dam.

Don't forget Quill Hill asks for a donation to help with upkeep

Here's the pull off, you can tell Mount Bigelow by the "U" shape

Rangeley also has Smalls Falls and Angel Falls

Ah no kiddin - I didn't know you have a camp up there. We'll probably be going by that area, if not just south of it. I'm trying to dig into the maps to route us dirt roads most of the way.

Quill Hill - yes, that's going to be on us. They take donations via Venmo so that'll be a lot easier to corral than cash. I've never been there, I grew up in southern Maine.

Yea my great-granfather hand built it and it was finished in the mid 70s. Been going up there for years now lol. I also have a buddy in Jackman, he owns the Napa auto repair place and his wife owns the bait shop in town, everyone else I know lives is Waterville

Side note is my avatar is taken on top of Eustis Ridge, which is unfortunately no longer accessible to the public
