I have the SOS BBK (Stoptech) a Tundra Master Cyd, and Brake booster. Truck weight is 5980lbs. Brake pedal feel is really soft and spongy. And stopping performance on inclines leaves a lot to be desired, as I sometimes tend to slide backward a tad. I’ve taken it to an Off-Road shop, and Brakes Plus, and I’m still in the same situation. Just reaching out to see if there might be something I’m missing. Or if the weight of my truck means, I just need to get used to this brake performance. Will probably look for an independent brake shop that might have more expertise vs Brakes Plus.

Do you have steel/braided brake lines?

I'd second stainless steel braided line and depending on when the fluid was last changed maybe flush the system and fill with new fluid.

Yes, the kit came with SSL's. And It's been this way since install, with fresh fluids.

I had the same complaint with the truck weighing in at 6k. First issue for me were worn out rear drums @145k. Second, and biggest one was a leaking brake booster. Start with the booster, I replaced mine and that drastically improved pedal feel. I am also running Hawk HD pads on t4r calipers.

The truck is at about 210k. But from everything I had seen on the forums, the rears just about last the life of the truck. But I guess I'll give them a go.

I'd check it. Mine looked paper thin. It affects how your pedal feels. At least give some adjustment and see if that improves.

Most recent pic. Though snow is covering up the caliper.

I'd consider going back to solid rotors and getting an aggressive pad. Brake feel is, no pun intended, touchy - the touch, the feel - several variables.

    Effing Epic, incredible truck!

it sounds like your main issue is lower speed stuff. Something like "Hawk HP+" would give good performance but they do dust a lot.

Are you confident the booster pushrod adjustment is correct? That can make the pedal low and spongy

How did the shop bleed the brakes? Did they run the abs pump? I am happy with my setup during spirited driving and towing but I'm on stock sized tires can't say anything on the larger tires but can only imagine.

Did the shop confirm no air in the ABS module? Not easy to bleed without TechStream from what I read.

Also... 38 inch tires and a heavy truck equals a shitload more work for the brakes to do. And I agree with the above, definitely check the drums. They last a long time, but probably not 210k long
