So I was in the unfortunate situation of being in a car accident yesterday (some drunk backed into our truck while parked and luckily we weren't in the vehicle).

I checked our dashcam and to my surprise it didn't capture the accident even though I had Parking Mode turned on. I use the same Thinkware F70 dashcam on my Ford Focus and it captures video while parked.

Does the Tacoma turn off ALL electricity to the dashcam and that's why it didn't capture anything?

I appreciate any insight on this and thank you in advance!

How is it wired for “parked” mode? If you’ve tied into the 12V ports in the dash, that’d be the reason. Those are deactivated with “key out”.

I've had my thinkware dashcams installed for a while now and it always captures videos while parked. Like ZMan asked, hows the camera wired to 12v? Mine has a fused wire from the battery so its always powered.

Hi, thanks to everyone that replied.

Yes, I only have it plugged into the 12V adapter.

Is it easy to fuse it to the battery? Also will it drain the battery?

    Thank you in advance.

They make an OBD plug in power supply.
If you don’t plan to drive the truck for a few day, unplug it.

Or wire the camera power supply to a switch?

The manual also has directions on how to setup the battery protection and cut off voltage.
