They look badass. I have one local as well.

Not sure about reliability, but they certainly have the cool factor.

My brother-in-law got sliders for his R1S, more for the side step.

What do the frames look like on these? I'm just curious.

I like how he has a plant growing in his undercarriage. What a stupid tailgate design created by people who have never used a truck as a truck.

I also doubt anything Rivian makes would be comparable to or take technology from the venerable BMW 1 Series. ;)

I’ve argued that point in a Rivian forum and get told you should just throw a tarp in the bed and you’ll be fine, it’s not a design flaw. There’s a few design features in the R1T that make me think the designers either never drove trucks or don’t think the buyers of a Rivian will actually use it like a truck. Based on most buyers I lean towards the latter.

There is a 0% chance of those actually working as rock sliders... On a 7k - 8k lb vehicle.

On another note the flat bottom is pretty sweet.

They actually do and have been tested with little flex and protecting the body work.

Do you have a link to that? Maybe I am missing something from the video but the support legs look to be 1.75" tall in the axis that matters for the moment of inertia.

Now that I look at it again its a much smaller span than what would be common on normal body on frame trucks.

I have a 2 R1t's and R1S's around me and I like the look of the SUV better but the design on both is really clean. I'm pretty much used to the front stadium lights.

I really can't get past those stadium lights. They bother me for some reason. Maybe it is because cars lights are supposed to be "eyes" according to all of the cartoons we saw as kids!

Maybe Rivian can design an irrigation system that takes the water from inside the doors and gives it to the plants living under the bed. It brings new meaning to the term green.

The Rivian has a front end that looks like it would just bend over as an instinct to any confrontation. Like the work Jerry in the episode of Rick and Morty where they get couples counseling. I could see getting one of there were some good options to replace the entire front end. It's also over priced.
