Currently in between but almost here full time, down in Goodyear.

You would be surprised with some of the off road opportunities on the big island. Plenty of lava crawling to remote beaches, a 50 mile off road drive around the back side of Mauna Kea at an average of 10,000ft, sketchy drives up to the summit and rim of Mauna Loa (13,600ft).
Choose the right place and you can drive for the whole day and not see anyone.

Please excuse the photo dump but missing HI in this crazy heat…

As always the photos make the scenery look less dramatic :)

So… when is the ideal time to use the locker? When you can’t get traction? When the 4wd isn’t putting power to the right wheel? I guess ultimately it’s when you get stuck and it’s the last resort before digging or traction boards?

When your truck is waving at people. That’s the time for the front locker.

Ironically this was long before I had the front locker. So I have no idea what I’m talking about

Most fun trail I’ve ever been on. The Maze in Sand Hollow. Super technical optional obstacles. The main trail is pretty moderate too. Need to go back and run it again now with the 37’s and lockers.

Yes, but this beach (distance) has the green sand but no tourists :)

My truck has driven over white, black, yellow, green, red, pink and gypsum sands which I think is pretty cool :)

I have a friend that went photographing the 2018 Leilani eruption and somewhere along the way he lost his truck keys. Had to smash the window and get towed by the fire brigade!

He very nearly lost his truck
    IMG_8404.jpg

    The 4Runner was popo.

If you do go to the big island hit me up, I’ve got some cool trails you can do in your rental jeep.

I was actually out there as well in 2018 when it was erupting! It was very sad to see how many homes got destroyed as well as the little ponds we used to snorkel at.

My aunt has a place in ninole we stay at and has a titan 4x4 so we can beat it up more hahah.

Here’s one closer pic I was able to get.

    Here’s a closer one…
    image000000.jpg

I wanted to go down and shoot it but being a haole and an Englishman it didn’t sit right for me when peoples homes were being destroyed.

My buddy who took the above shot and almost lost his truck to Pele was local so he got access without fear of flying rocks hitting his truck ;)

I’ve done a handful. You can barrow the tool if you need.

Attention hunters .... Anyone have any good spots in unit 22 for whitetail in November? Never hunted there before and don't have a clue where to start looking. Girlfriend and her dad got drawn and I'm gonna try to get up there before hand and do some glassing

Once you lose traction enough traction on one wheel!
those pictutes are unreal........... I'm not saying there's not wheeling there! Just a lot different here :D i use it when im off center and one wheel isn't getting full traction, kick on the locker and send that power to the wheel that has good traction!

I only had a picture of me going back down the obstacle not up but you get the idea:rofl:

We got here in May and have been dealing with some life stuff so haven’t really done anything fun, looking forward to things calming down so we can explore some.
My truck has stayed clean for way too long!

I’ve done probably a dozen of the bushings and I believe still have the tool. I’m over in Surprise, so not too far. You’re welcome to borrow it and I can offer some pointers.

I have never hunted the area but I have explored it. You will need to get deep as that is a very popular area for valley hunters.
