I have warmed up to it some but I want a Ranger Raptor. And if that thing has any mechanical issues, I'll come running back to Toyota.

I'm very excited but at the same time not expecting so much. Just because after test driving a 2nd gen long ago, got very disappointed, and then....... the 3rd gen was the same. That was way before covid. Other brands moved a few generations already with engines much better than any tacoma, and 5+ years older.

I hope toyota will surprise us all. But whatever the 4th gen is, it's going to be like that for another 15 years.

You didn't buy one of these other trucks with "engines much better than any tacoma"? Why not?
And the 4th gen won't go 15 years. Not even with a refresh or two.

Im not quite onboard with the 2024 Tacoma yet, but compared to a Chevy or ford 4 cylinder turbo…It’s Tacos all day.

i look at toyota as a truck that you personally own.

i see chevy or the ford ranger as a rental, or company car.

So you marry a Tacoma, but date a Chevy or Ranger, kinda like a side-piece.

I think the biggest mistake Toyota/Lexus etc. are making with these new generation vehicles is swapping away the naturally aspirated v6 for the 4CL turbo.

Only reason they are doing this is to save money, keep up with bs emission standards.
Should have just improved the transmission and kept rolling with the 2nd Gen’s 4.0 L engine.

laughing at the Toyota fanboys defending the neutering of their vehicles.

    No replacement for displacement.

With basic normally asperated displacement comes reliability. One of the reasons Toyota is so loved. Thru quality engineering Toyota has been able to strike a good balance between complicated mechanicals, electronics and emmissions. There is a pinicle tipping point. Some say the gen 2.5 wirh the 2gr fe w VVT, quality forever timing chain,, ease of workability, manual 6 speed, was the perfect balance? The 250k Camry with only oil changes and brales was not an accident.

I just sold my incredably fun, zippy, efficient 45mpg VW TDI Spoertwagen turbo diesel, manual 6 speed for the above stated reason. Much unlike a run forever Toyota. It just isn't worth the timing belt job every 100k ($2k), the unavalible DPF replacement apx every 50 to 100k ($3k), the o.e. exploding HPFP (random $2-3k), the over complex failure prone variable vain turbo ($2k+-), extreemly difficult commonly needed thermostst replacement (easily $800). NOT your old air cooled VW!

IMO the best of the best automotive vehicles will stick around the early 2000's. Every step past that is a step into the elimination of the internal combustion engine unfortunately. We will never acheive emmisions perfection good nough for some.

    No replacement for displacement!

But it’s unwarranted change. Toyota is using arguably worse engines in their vehicle and it has gone down slightly every generation refresh. Adapting to change is not the same as refusing to be bent over by Toyota america.

I’m not the only one that thinks this either, I think Toyota is going to take a huge hit in the up coming years because they aren’t priced competitively anymore and using less reliable parts.

We are so devastated. Can't possibly go on enjoying our wondervehicles while... checks profile.. Mr Liftcrip laughs at us. Oh, the humanity!

The level of this guy's IQ is clearly off the charts. I bet he flattens every one he meets with his intellect.

Having an opinion about the new 4th Gen trucks equals me “laughing” at you or implying my “IQ” is higher? Nice projection. That’s you putting out words/implications that I never said.

You type like a boomer who just found out how to use the internet to start non existent arguments.

very cringe my man, maybe try stepping out for some fresh air?
