Ahh….the 4th Gen BS page, new Gen, new gripes, lol. It’s just a truck, there will be others…I’ve owned 10 Tacomas and one pre Tacoma Toyota truck.

They have all been pretty darn good, I’m fairly certain the new ones will be equally as good. Just purchased a 23 Tacoma because I wanted it now and I’m not really a fan of the new design, but time will change all things, including my opinion.

 

What I'm liking is the 465 ft∙lb torque, but I'm hoping its within what my bank account can buy.

I would expect 50k+ for any Hybrid.

 

Need to find common ground. There's gotta be a silver lining somewhere that everyone (mostly those in this thread) would agree on.

 

Auto manufacturers have it tough trying appease customers and government regulations. Nothing will be perfect, those seeking that need to join the “Built not Bought” crowd, and even then there will always be something they aren’t happy with.

Think Toyota did a fairly good job, fixed the nagging issues with the out going generation, and have something for darn near everyone in the mid-size truck demographic. From the basic utility truck up to the halo vehicle and everything else in between.

 

The hybrid is the TRD Pro which begins production later (July-ish 2024). Everything else lower-priced is already in production since 1-3-2024, per my Dealer.

I would bet on $60k for a TRD Pro by the time you park it at home.
For comparison, a used Rivian truck is $70k with 20,000 miles on it. Never buy gas and very little oil and more powerful no matter how you measure it.

My point is: the electric truck will dominate before I die. It's coming. Toyota has decided to push the limits of customer loyalty to brand and fuel.

 

Besides the Pro and Trail Hunter, it will also be available in the Sport, Off Road, and Limited which should have a little lower prices. It's also designed as a horsepower booster, not so much for MPG.

 

Because it just look ugly a$$ hell, lol. I see they changed the price pretty high too. It seems like you still don't get much for the price, so that means it didn't change very much at all compared to the 2nd & 3rd gen.

Like asking would you rather have a naturally aspirated 400HP V8 or a 400HP turbo 4L?

Now if Toyota offered a naturally aspirated 5.0L Inline 6, I’d be all over it.

 

Maybe, "Hybrids" have a chance. Best of both worlds.

But people, now more than EVER, "get" how 100% electric - es no bueno!

Even the greener than thou's will eventually smell the b.s. they've swallowed. Turns out they've blindly shot themself in their own carbon footprint. If nothing else range anxiety will keep them confined to their 15 minute city.

 

I could possibly get past the turbo 4-banger. Possibly. But that big-ass screen in the middle of the dash? The future is stupid.

 

I need to be able to sit in the interior to decide.

 

I am looking forward to the 4th gen, having owned 5 different 3rd gens I found myself unimpressed with the capability and I tried several different trims both engines and auto and manual trans options. The 2.7 (and 3.4) were a perfect fit for the 1st gen but the size and weight of the 2nd and 3rd gen trucks overwhelmed that 2.7 motor even unloaded at highway speeds (constant downshifting when trying to maintain 70mph) and the 3.5 was underwhelming compared to my 4.0 manual FJ, even the slightest trailer behind the 3.5 made it behave like the 2.7. The little 2.7 grandpa style 5 lug that was phased out in 2015 was great if you wanted good mpg and a city truck though. Those 5 lug 2nd gen 2wd still bring crazy money.

IF the 4th gen is mechanically sound it will be the best Tacoma ever produced, by a long shot. I think this truck is a bigger step forward than the most recent tundra change and I’ve owned 2 new 2023 tundras.

Why have you owned 2 new 2023 Tundras?

 

I wanted to try the new tundra since it hadn’t been upgraded in so long. The strength and reliability (both engine and trans) and towing capabilities of the 5.7 wasn’t really met with the new tundra 3.5tt. Outside of tech upgrades and a smoother ride (which I liked), all things considered the previous tundra is a better truck.

P.S. I trade vehicles a lot and prolly drive 35k miles yearly on average. Another thing I like about the 4gen taco is that the wheelbase has been lengthened and track widened (better ride and more confidence controlling trailers).
