Anyone interested in running Oriflamme or Pinion Mtn this weekend? Temps might get a little toasty but I’m itching to get out and play with the truck.

Not to be "that guy," but have you ran Pinion Mt? The squeeze is a bit ambitious unless you're willing to take body damage.

I've watched some videos and been reading about "the squeeze". Is it really that bad?

Yes. Especially in a 3rd/2nd gen Tacoma. PreTacos & 1st gens are not a problem.

Ive had plans to run it a few weekends now with a buddy (he’s got a jeep) but I couldn’t make it for one reason or another. I’m aware of the squeeze and Windowbreaker and it took me a few months of peer pressuring but I’m finally comfortable with where my driving abilities are and with the level of damage I’m willing to take lol. Jeep buddy has ran it several times so ideally he’d be along for the ride.

I’m ok with some body damage. We ran big bear trails Memorial Day weekend, ripped the stock bumper off at gold mtn and John bull, gave my sliders a nice shave on Holcomb creek (the wrong way), and some bedside dents here and there along the trip

that being said since then I’ve had some goodies installed and want to shake things down.

I do realize now that my original post includes two trails of very different difficulty level.

Was there last November. I could not make it through the Espinoza trail. It’s the lopping trail that goes past the Corte Madera trailhead, which is down past the tower lookout. I made it down to the last rocky section and didn't have the clearance to make it through. I didn't explore the other trails, but from past visits, over 10 years ago, the trails are smooth, except of course, Bronco Peak.

quick question for you guys... while sitting at a stoplight driving to work yesterday, the ultragauge went off and said my temp was high. I looked at the temperature gauge and it was near red. I pulled over and blasted the heater. The engine temp came down but I had a buddy pick me up instead. Drove it home after work last night an no problems. I checked it this morning and the reservoir was dry. I filled up the reservoir and drove it to work today with zero issues. I figured Id keep an eye on it and keep checking for leaks. Didnt see any leaks around the pump or thermostat. No leaks in the hoses or around the reservoir. Any advice on what I should be looking for or checking for besides what I've done? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Dry reservoir may be result from:

A leak - check water pump, hoses, radiator, radiator cap, heater core, and reservoir.

    Bad head gasket.

You've at least got some decent trail experience at this rate and should be able to manage. I took body damage when I did the trail but managed to make it through. It's been years since I've done it though.

Yes, two entirely different trails. Both are a great time but have different desires.

I've never done the loop trail but I keep hearing about one rock section that takes a little bit of effort. Makes me want to go check it out for myself.

I've been running Sidewinder for 4-5 years now and it's in the roughest shape I've ever seen it. The trail used to be a solid "get your feet wet" type trail but it's beyond that now. It's a great time if you're prepared and know what you're getting into but you can get into trouble real quick. The rains this season have really done a number. I've ran it twice this year, once in the rain, and I honestly don't know how we made it through. haha
