Hey again guys. I'm just curious if anyone else is satisfied with their trucks speed? I wasn't too enthusiatic when I first got it seeing as it only had 190HP but after opening it up a few times, it's a fast little truck. I raced random people a few times, and I'm sure it being a manual helps, but I always get the jump and pull away going through second and third gear. I was really shocked at the pickup it had and I'm very pleased. I actually raced a friend the other day, and he drives a 2000 Audi A6 2.8T and it was neck and neck up until 50ish. Guess the turbo kicked in lol. Anyone else suprised at the speed of their truck? Or on the other hand dissapointed? I'm not sure if the automatics are as quick but I feel the manuals certainly are. :D

I have the automatic and it's a dog. If I could find a manual trans. I would swap in a heartbeat. Better yet a manual and the supercharger. I think I would be happier.

I've always liked this site but that's just ridiculous. If you can't say you casually raced someone at a red-light, somethings wrong... Not to mention I never said I went over the speed limit. I don't understand why people can't grow up. Oh no! He mentioned street racing!! Let's post some wall of text assuming he cares. Everyone is so uptight anymore. It truly is disappointing.

    getting there....
lets keep any kind of "street racing" talk out fellas. talk of racing at a track is fine.

my tacomas acceleration aint that great.....but then again, mine is a double cab, and i got sliders and all....kinda on the heavy side. the ect button helps out with passing slow folks and school buses tho. damn people running 45 in a 55.

Even with my heavy pig of a double cab (bumpers, sliders, lift, 32s, steel wheels), it still goes pretty good. If this transmission ever shits the bed though, I'll be swapping in a manual.

When do you use the ect button? I only use it driving up the mountain. I can hardly stay like 50 or so without going in the 4-5000's. Does it help to take off faster or anything? Just driving through town

The 2.7 can be a "Sleeper" even with "Juice drive"....The little "potato" exhaust racers at a light .....Leaving a job-site with all the "Big Iron" GM's  and then I smile when they have to pull into every gas station...

Tune it and maintain it right, it will bring you home for 100,000's of miles and let you "play" when you feel the need ....plus understand what the OD button and ECT actually DO....;)

Now do not be embarrassed when you pull up to an "Old Man" in a "Mack Office" at a light and he leaves you scratching :confused: .. Allisons with 427 horse ....

you bought a truck specifically for racing? and what else are they good for? 1 being a truck 2 its a truck its not your high performance track car 3 if thats the case why didnt you get an X-Runner? and if your going to race you dont want meaty tires soaking up your HP and your better off keeping the center of gravity low and not lifting etc..
