Vehicle is in transit, so it doesn't even have the $7k "protection pkg" applied yet
Why '85? '83 had the fuel injected 22RE with solid front axle.

Click bait post lol, I had to build and see what a 4x4 cost in today's market.

46K for TRD Offroad with premium packages, so probably 50K out the door. Thats rough! i Paid 40k in 2019 out the door.

There are people with sizable incomes and assets that do not blink an eye at buying a new car over msrp. Not a big deal.

Same reason that some buy a bus. class ticket to Australia for $18K and others fly economy for $2K on the same flight.

I feel like I understand the sentiment though I don’t the words.

I love all 3 of my trucks and I even love my two kids, all in very different ways.

the 2.7 will last you several cars. Ive had mine for 5 years and not a single thing has gone wrong with it...thats amazing. toyota techs have no idea what the 2.7 engine looks like inside because its incredibly rare they have to open it up. I would never pay that much, but knowing they wont make this spec truck anymore maybe the value is going up. its one of the last trucks that have no nonsense technology in them...its an engine with a metal frame, no nannys. I got mine for $24K 5 years ago. Toyota dealership said they would buy it from me for 28K a months ago, now recently they want 24K for it...what a time we are living in haha.

What are the differences between 2nd gen 2TR-FE and 3rd gen? I wonder what I’m missing out on.

mine makes a bit of a squeal at startup. I’m not sure how much I really care cause everyone thinks it’s so bulletproof and one day I’d like to EV convert anyway.

If I'm flying to Australia from Nevada, you bet your sweet bippy I'm doing it business class, and I'm definitely not rich. It's actually more like $7k business class, which is not unreasonable if you're going to be spending 26+ hours in the air over 2 days. Lay flat seat, some benedryl, and wake me up when it's time to pee in south korea or wherever for the 6 hour layover

Yah, it's hard to explain. I think overall the 3rd gen is a better truck, but the 2nd gen feels more like a tacoma. It's tough to put it into words.

It could be that I'm getting old now and I appreciate the powered drivers seat that Toyota finally figured out was a good idea in fucking 2020. My 1989 oldsmobile cutlas I drove in high school had a power drivers seat ffs
