I apologize if this is a dumb question but if I take my truck in for an oil change to the dealer and they see I installed a Miller catalytic converter shield will that be grounds for them to void out my warranty?

    No it won't.

The only issue if something related to the shields were to happen, like maybe overheating secondary cats etc.

So far they've been installed on many tacos with no problems.

Nothing really "voids" warranty anymore. It's case by case. You can supercharge the truck and still retain warranty.

Also, they may refuse to remove them (or free of charge) should they need to access something in that area.

Thank you all for the insight. If I have an oil change will having the shield get in the way?

Only the trans is blocked by it if I recall. Engine oil is not inhibited.

oil access is fine but the zerks on the front propeller for 4wd are inaccessible unless you remove cat shield.
warranty wise, they need to be regreased every 15K i think (not sure of number) to keep front propeller in warranty.

edit: Lubricate propeller shaft - every 15k or 18 mo (severe: 5k or 6 mo)

I think on the ‘23, those are sealed bearings- no zerks. My ‘21 is all sealed.

I had the dealer install mine before I took possession of the truck. They listed a cat shield as an available accessory when I bought it. I don't see it as being an issue with warranty.

I just installed a MIllerCat Stainless Steel version on my wife's FJ Cruiser. It was a very simple install and the only modification made at all were to remove the bolts from the "side braces" to install the shield and then put the braces back and replace those bolts with Miller Cats "security" bolts that have a torx head. I guess the dealer would have to prove the shield caused an over heating issue with the CAT. I can't see how it would affect anything else on the vehicle. I think that would be difficult to prove but anything is possible I suppose.

MillerCat shields are sold by dealers and even have a Toyota part # IIRC.

It will not. Toyota offers the Miller Cat shield as an option straight from Toyota.

Correct. I had to remove mine to drain and fill the AT, but have never had to remove it to change the oil.
