not going to watch it, but judging from the thumbnail I'm guessing he spent 15 minutes crouched down next to it with his stupid hat talking about how to get out of that hole

Edit: he has also made it more difficult to get a motorcycle endorsement/license in Washington. He owns a network of training schools in the NW (Puget Sound Safety) and lobbied the state congress to require more classes and instruction time to get your permit and full license so he can sell more classes. I hold a grudge because of that. Basically tripled the cost of getting endorsed overnight. (Training is not a bad thing, don't get me wrong, but the barrier to entry is already extremely high for motorcycling and I'm against moves that make it even higher)

I am all for the "MSF" Course here in CA to get a license, in fact every single person who didnt heed my suggestion of "go do the MSF course so you dont have to do the in person riding test at the DMV" has had a crash / problem while riding that would of easily been avoided had they had the basis... But to charge more for it and make it harder to enjoy the sport. Now thats some fuggin BS.... I bet I know who he voted for....

WA used to be 1 of 2 things:

    1) take the written test at the DMV, get a permit valid for 6 mo's with some limitations, renewable once, then take the driving test at a course or a DMV, they would have regular field days for it

    OR
    2) Take an MSF or other approved class and do the driving and written tests as part of that. They had 1 or 2 day classes, or longer, it was pretty flexible. I did a 1 day "returning rider" class (had been riding scooters and riding un-endorsed for a season :anonymous:) and knocked it all out for $135 and 7 hours of my time.

Now the requirements are a written and driving test for both stages, permit and full license, that have to be done at an approved course and cost like triple out the door what it used to. Seems like most courses aren't offering it separate from classes, either, adding even more cost.

(And friendly warning on the politics talk, I'm all for expression but in my experience TW mods come down pretty hard with the vacations on that)

Glad I did mine in Wyoming. Written and ride test at DMV, or take the MSF course (2 or 3 days IIRC), show your card and take the written test at the DMW to get your endorsement.

I have no clue how it is now in AL, but in 1993(I was 14), I just took a written test and got my motorcycle endorsement. I honestly don't recall if there were any limitations to it. I was putting around on a Honda Elite 80 anyway
Now I started on a bike at 5, so I had a decent understanding, but the state probably should have had at least a driving course too

I think the MSF class in VA is $150, 1 day in a classroom, 1 day in the "field" practicing, and then a couple hours for the test. Basically if you don't drop the bike, you pass. And if you do drop it, for the next time you register, you get a discount. They give you a card to take to DMV and add class M to your license.

There is a way to do it through the DMV too. Get the book, study for the permit test. Then you have to buy your own bike, practice for X hours with a friend that knows how to ride for X months, and then go take the test at the DMV. Much more of a hassle than a weekend at the community college..

I got my MC endorsement in PA back around 1985 or 86 and when I did all I needed to do was go in and pay the $10 or 15 whatever it was and take a short written test and they issued me a permit. Permit was good for 3 months I think back then. Rode around for a bit then scheduled the driving test at the nearest state police barracks. Rode in at the appointed time and they took me out back to a driving range with lines marked off. One short straight away to accelerate and shift gears then downshift and come to a complete stop. A short slalom course through some cones and a "box" area roughly 2 parking spots wide and a little longer than a car length where you had to complete 2 figure eights without dropping your feet off the pegs and that was it. I did sign up and take a MSF course the following Spring as I knew enough to know that I didn't know enough.

I actually teste3d on a 1981 Kawaski GPZ-750 that had a 900 Wiseco block kit with a Yoshimura pipe and flatslide carbs. State police officer was NOT impressed that this was my first bike.

2009 here  Got my license in NJ. Took the written test for my permit, then found a place that did instruction/scooter rental for the road test.

    Yep.
I've looked at your listing a half dozen times :spy:... it's tempting me, but I think the wife would kill me with the recent '01 929 purchase.

I got mine at the beginning of last year, couple months after I turned 16. Florida is very straightforward about it - there's no permit to get first, and no DMV written or riding test. Only way to obtain the license/endorsement is to take the MSF BRC (which is generally around $250 here).
