    Holy crap! Thunder and lightning woke me up last night. Must have been directly over the house, shook the room. :eek:

    That's odd...I heard nothing here.

    Today's the day! Unless there's any last minute fiddle fuckery from the dealership I pick up the Tacoma in just a few hours

    @HAVOC ,

    Would you have any interest in possibly taking a ride up to my place to help me with that chase light and switch install? Looking to ensure it’s installed before the Maine trip in August. Haven’t seen any mod days planned so figured Id ask if I can convince you to take a ride up and help for gas money, Guinness, hard cider, a woolwax spray or any combination of those.

    Switch comes today; connectors scheduled to arrive Thursday.

    Things I need to figure out:
    • Do I need a new grommet for the switch to go through the firewall, or if I could send it through the boot where my cb exits the cab.
    • Cleanly running the light wire from under the rtt where the light will be mounted to the recess where the brake light - was thinking of trying to run it to the bed cubby- drill a hole in the cubby door and use a grommet to make it look clean but need to brainstorm if there is a better/cleaner looking solution. My logic in putting it there is that the connector would be hidden/housed in the cubby, and would give easy access to splicing into the brake light for reverse, running and brake light functions.
    • Splicing the reverse, brake, and running light- what is the best way to accomplish this - thinking the t taps wouldn’t be the most weatherproof solution- was going to cut the current wires and use a heat shrink soldered butt splice but wonder if that is the best solution.

    We should be able to use an existing grommet. Where does the CB antenna wire exit the cab?
    I won't be able to know where the best place will be to run wires until I see what we are working with.
    T-taps and the weather don't like each other. I've seen a lot of corrosion when T-taps are used outside. I don't use T-taps at all.
    The best would be to solder and then use marine heat shrink. Butt connectors and marine heat shrink would also work.

    heyoooo!

    Well tomorrow after work, the missus and I will be taking miata out for the 10th anniversary of owning it. The plan is to go up to Kent Falls State Park for a hike and maybe to Kent Falls brewing company. Is there anything else anyone would like to recommend for us to stop at on this trip? We are heading out from Wallingford.
