Yep, I've been there too. I am learning quickly that the Ozarks offer a unique variety of "Oh shi.." inducing turns and surprises. It doesn't help that with all our stuff, coolers and kayaks really make my wheezy 4banger truck feel like a pregnant cow.

    However, I'm still considering it

The great thing about a 4 banger is you have more time to take in the scenery. The back of a semi truck, for example.

Don't have much to lose trying it. Yank it off the next time you have the skid plate off. Drive it around and see if it matches your driving habits.

Honestly, it would make driving over the dumb traffic circles a lot smoother

Never really had too much issue with that either. I can lock it up and get it to stop in a car length or so in dry conditions. Wet/icy conditions I'm not going nearly as fast. What pisses me off most is when I leave a car length in front of me so I don't have to worry about demoing someone with my steel bumper and people take that as a free invitation to cut me off.

Also, I've lifted the tire enough the trac light flashes more times than I can count since doing it and once you get used to it, it's not scary and you realize you're fine. Probably helps I flexed out my truck to see the limits and I can literally stuff the front right and the rear left and it still isn't ready to roll with 23" of up on the rear tire.

I will say, if you ditch it, you'll be recalibrating your VSC every time you get an alignment.

This is literally me EVERY DAY heading south on 71 leaving work. I just crank up the radio and smile...knowing my bumper would absolutely destroy that 98 civic if they decided to slam on the brakes.

OH believe me I'm pretty tempted to see what I can do with it. It's bounced a deer, it'll move a sedan.

I need some solid axle shitbox so I can stop beating up my truck. I call it a wheezy little wuss but I'd never sell it.

ive got front and rear sway bars (yes I added one). made driving much better when ive got the camper on. even without the camper, I'd still do it with the difference it made driving.

I'm in the minority I guess.
