While I'm here....It's almost July and that means RAGBRAI. Anyone doing it this year? I'll be back. Last year was an absolute blast and the 50th anniversary sounded too good to pass up!

I'm on the fence of shooting over the North Dakota after Ragbrai and doing a shorter version of the MaahDaah Hey 100. Maybe the 50 or 75. ANyone doing that or have done it before? If I had solid sag support Id consider the full 100. I'm confident in my fitness...I think lol. But this is another place that I said I'd be back to. I rode a small section of that trail a couple years ago and loved it.

I’ve watched videos on YT for Ragbrai - looks like a cool experience! Maybe one of these days now that the kids are out of college and headed to college. Enjoy the event this year!

    Yeah.
A friend of mine in the STL area plans to do the RAGBRAI, pretty sure it will be his first. Another friend has done the Dirty Kanza (I just realized they changed the name to Unbound Gravel, cancel culture at its finest). Not really my bag, but all of these seem like fun events.

yeah, pretty sure the FR desn't come in the 2.6? Which is so wild to me. but, I guess for manufacturing ease, they skipped it. I'll probably be sticking to my assegai's for a little while on the front.

I have a Poseidon Redwood and unfortunately in a stock set up, the drops are not where you want to be when going down descents. The brakes are mechanical pieces of crap that have trouble locking up the wheel - I am looking at how to most effectively replace with full hydro brakes, but to do it properly requires a whole drive train upgrade as well. The Microshift Advent X drivetrain is bomb proof and I am super happy with it, but it is all set up on using cable actuated brakes for the brifters.

I told myself no major bike purchases this year and then promptly decided to buy a hardtail so really need to try and hold to my advice at the moment. Figure this winter will be a good time to upgrade the whole setup and go into next year with a much more capable bike.

I saw a YT video from Jeff KW that he rode with a 2.6 FR on the front and said it was fine. I mean realistically if you care abt the 2.6 I’m sure you could do 2.6 on both ends.

i think for pricing’s sake imma try the 2.4 enduro krypto front with a 2.6 enduro krypto rear. That vs assegai-DHR2 combo will be about 50-60 bucks cheaper as far as I can see

i thought its recommended to run a wider front tire for more grip and a narrower rear tire for less rolling resistance

That’s general yea but I also never wash out my front tire. But what do I know. Maybe I run 2.6 both ends cus I would like to. Just wonder how much diff the front vs rear krypto would feel cus the 2.6 is technically a rear tire

yeah, i think he said the 2.6 Re krypto is just fine inthe front. it's not too crazy to do somethign like that. I know a few people who use dhr's in front.

i'm running the 2.4 enduro krypto re soft. it's been better than I expected.

This! I'm running 2.6 Assegai in front and a 2.4 Aggressor in back and love it.

This begs the question, why do they offer the Kryptotal rear in 2.6 but not the front?

who was it that used to ride a 2021 or earlier rallon? Did you ever run a 2.6 tire in rear? Being a less popular bike It's hard to find info online since its also the older frame now. It looks like it should work but not positive.

I did. Biggest rear tire I ran was probably 2.4. There was plenty of clearance on the 2.4, but I can't remember well enough to comment if a 2.6 would fit. You may be able to go to your LBS and see if they have a wheel mounted up that you could try...

Really regret not being able to break the bike out of the back when I was moving from SLC to Everett last month. But trying to park a 26' box uhaul and a car hauler was prob gonna take up the whole trailhead

This is more similar to a KRF than I was expecting. Will slap it on for some laps later today..

We make these, haul up to 8 bikes(4 forward facing and 4 rearward with the optional rear high crossbar). Great alternative to hitch mount style.

Interesting - love the alternative mindset. May I ask the advantages of this versus the hitch northshore style? The modularity is pretty neat.

A buddy and I have been putting on a gravel race the last three(ish) years called the Purgatory 100. First year was a covid year and it was a do-it-on-your own sort of thing. We had 60 people complete the course over the month of June. Last year we had 85 people show up. This year we had 145+! Super happy with the race and the growth. One of the biggest races in the province already.

The area we hold the race (Theherne, Manitoba) is one of the nicest places to ride in the province but before we scouted the course and put on the race it hardly even registered on Strava heat maps. Barely anyone had ridden these roads.

We've had a 100km and a 50km race the last two years but for 2024 or 2025 were hoping to have a 200km option as well. There's a ton of good roads still left to scout.

We had some cool footage made as well.

    https://www.instagram.com/reel/CuDPJU0ghak/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

    Already excited for next year.
