The way I see it, the CEO wants time off or the availability to shift focus elsewhere.

The company, or CEO, decided to open up a stand-alone position to take on the duties and responsibilities he himself was in charge of.

Makes sense. If the company has the financial means to add and fulfill such a position, more power to them.

Just speaking from personal experience having gone through exactly the scenario I described at the dealership. Only person I answered to was the owner.

It'll be a bit difficult I take it for the CEO to find the 'perfect' candidate for such a position if he himself exhibits all of those very traits he's asking for.

Hope they find a good candidate! The degree for some might be a deal breaker but who knows, maybe someone will stand out from the crowd.

And maybe, just maybe, someone from within the company will move up the ranks instead of hiring from outside.

I remember our company hired a President 4 or 5 years ago, even though we're a private company and the owner is head hauncho, I think it was a move like you said to have someone else take the reigns on the upper level business decisions to free him up some.

I also think it was a move to put a different face at the head of the ship, someone to take the brunt of the storms so to speak so the owner wouldn't have to.

anyway, he didn't last long...when the downsize happened a couple years later he was one of the first to go

Yeah which is why I had to give credit specifically to the financial side of things.

Being in finance, and in a higher position, you see all the profits, losses, and expenses with employees being the largest expense of them all.

No shit, didn't know a cost of living allowance was passed recently to increase benefits at a larger percentage to keep up with living standards.

Benefits go up again starting January.

Yeah speaking of which, now the guy who effectively is "president" is our CFO, runs things in lieu of the "semi-retired" owner. which is nice for me because he's my boss above my supervisor so we're relatively close.

I swear I've shown him how to put files on his digital picture frame at least 3 times but every Monday he brings it to me with his iPhone and has me pull all his recent photos off and onto the frame. He told me he doesn't even give his wife his iPhone password lol.

Could be worse, least it's not the owner himself only to nickname you Vladimir because you remind him of his childhood friend back in the USSR.

Last year's raise was like 8.7% and they don't know what it'll be but it could be that much again.

This is for my disability benefits so it'll be like that for life :bananadance:
