    Hi TW,

I just dropped off my truck to get my tires changed at a local tire shop. They called me after inspecting my truck and said my trucks suspension had "excessive bounce" which causes excessive tire wear and I needed to get my front and rear suspension replaced. However I'm not exactly sold because my truck only has 30k miles. Am I getting scammed? I unfortunately don’t know if the tires have been replaced since new because I just got the truck a year ago. However I personally didn't notice any excessive or uneven wear on the tires. I even took my truck recently to the Toyota stealership and they didn't have anything to say about the suspension or uneven tire wear.

I'd let it ride unless you are experiencing excessive bouncing or can visually see the shock(s) are leaking or busted...

Yeah that’s what I was thinking, I’ll keep an eye on the new tires.

Funny how they have a promotion going on and it just so happens that they claim your truck needs those exact parts replaced... I would tell them to F off and never go back.

They'd still be under factory warranty too. Sounds like they're just trying to sell you something.

This. Or if it's a shop with good tire deals, just ignore their upsells, as you've already done.

And make sure you have them at the right pressures as well as rotate regularly.

SCAM. Did I mention scam. If you haven't got your tires mounted yet pick your truck up and take it somewhere else.

If the strut bushings are fine and the housings dont leak and the coils arent effed up i'm not sure how they'd even diagnose 'excessive bounce'...highly doubt they took it for a test drive lol

My tires started to wear uneven and I did need to replace struts and shocks. But it was at 125,000 miles. I'm at 238,000 miles currently and that 2nd set is still doing fine.

Push down hard on ea. corner of your truck. If they're good it should stop immediately. If they're bad you'll see some bounce.

Yeah that's why it seemed more suspect, there just happens to be a deal right when I'm having an issue. If I really am that lucky I should go buy a Powerball ticket right now

Unfortunately it was too late for me to pull the truck before I got the tires mounted, but I declined their offer to fix the suspension. I'll keep an eye on the tire wear now since they made me a little paranoid but as Crikeymike said my truck should still be under warranty. At least my new wheels look sick :D

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
I have a 2016 TRD OR, access cab with 6 foot box.

It had 6K miles on it when I bought it, and had never been off road and zero modifications.

My first few off road trips, and it is bouncing up and down like a Kangaroo on steroids. Brutal.

I don’t know if all TRD OR are like that stock, but I could not take it and I put on Bilstein 5100 front and back, and no more bounce.

A lot stiffer ride off road now, but I prefer that over the crazy bouncing with the OEM shocks.

they probably wouldn't like the shocks on my SR. Rides like a dump truck from the factory with no weight in the bed.

At this shop they would try to convince you that your truck is falling apart :p. While picking the taco up, I declined the service, and the mechanic said if I got the safety inspection at their shop he would’ve failed it because of the “ excessive bounce”. I’m definitely never going back there again.
