Thoughts on cameras.. I want to take some videos. Dont need to get famous, but @w.adventures needs proof that I can wheelie. I gotta start a channel like @spencermarkd

    Budget: $300 and below
and looking for suggestions on a AI video editor. (my computer is from 2017, and can barely do internet)

Shoot, you don’t have to wait for a camera. Cellphone footage will work.

Being forced to shell out $250 for that course is extortion. FL is one of the most corrupt states in the union. Someone in the FL legislature must be getting kickbacks from the rider course.

I took the road test in the DMV parking lot on a honda shadow VLX650 in the early 1990's to get my FL endorsement.

Got mine in 1985 on a 85 ninja 600 . 1st street bike for me.

also body work update. They offered a $200 refund which I said yes to. I have ordered a new factory tank cover in white along with a front faring in white with yellow number plate. Should go well with the rest of the bike. The 200 pretty much covers the new parts.

I'm glad I got mine when I did back around 2020, I just had to do the basic 2 day MSF course, 1 evening of classroom stuff and morning/afternoon of a little more classroom and on bike instruction.

Here in CA the MSF course is now like $450 I think. Was $375 when I took it in 2020, which was the perfect year to start riding because everything was shut down, people were working from home, and roads were wide open with minimal traffic.

CA moto endorsement is pretty straight forward. Pass written test to obtain permit. Pass driving test to get endorsement, or take the MSF course to waive that portion. Can do them simultaneously to get the full endorsement, or get your permit first before obtaining the license.

My husband is an MSF instructor. I was going to become one until I shadowed and saw what a crock of bs the operation is as far as the ‘grading’ students and the condition of the bikes theyre riding affecting said grading. Husband absolutely hates it and is bailing when his few more shifts are up next week. He said its scripted and overlorded to where he gets yelled at if he tries to spendany extra time helping students that are struggling. “Youre holding the line up, our insurance wont cover any issues if youre doing that blah blah blah”. Hes a fourth generation teacher and loves helping people but theres zero freedom there to do so. Just a money-generator.

But yeah, also about $400 for the two-day course. Gives you an MSF certificate to save a whopping 5-10% on your insurance (if you pass the final ride test) and get your permit either way to go out and ride on the street.
So glad I got my license back in 2005. Had like 4 hours of classroom/videos, written test and paper permit good for two years I believe it was, and schedule with the DMV at your leisure for a road test. Bing bang boom, done.

Man im glad i got my moto license back in 2008 here in CA. The class was fun, instructors were cool, was like 180$ (slightly cheaper for me as its required for under 21 - i was 18 at the time), hell I even got offered a job after as an instructor (I had been riding dirt for almost a decade prior and ~10k miles on a chinese z50 around the streets leading up to 18 lol).

Went on a long monkey ride. The weather here in the NW is perfect right now. This little bike is so much fun.

I got my license back in the late 70s. I just took the test at the Michigan secretary of state, written test and then some maneuvers in the parking lot. Figure 8s etc. I took the test on a brand new yamaha 850 triple midnight special.

I rode my Grom today, and agreed, total hoot. Had a group of road construction guys slack jawed as I rode past :rofl:it's about to get into the 90's here for the foreseeable future, borderline hair dryer to the face temperatures.

I need to get out on my bike later today. I keep looking at it in the garage all neglected when I walk past it, I can't be wasting weather like this when we end up with 5 months out of the year when I just put the cover over and forget about it.

Sounds like the individual club or whatever that's the problem. The MSF guys that did my course in UT were super helpful and willing to give extra feedback, etc. The bikes also got swapped out each season. They put me on a 40 mile Duke 200 for my MSF and then I noticed the fleet had turned over when I drove past the course location this spring. Helps their sponsored by the local moto dealer i suppose.

Best thing about 2020 were the empty roads. Rt 76 is one of the worst highways near me, and there were mornings it was nearly empty - that was bizarre and amazing at the same time

@spencermarkd heres my review of the Mosko Rak jacket:

material feels really good on skin. Doesn't feel like just a rain shell. Although on me the XL is super tight in my armpits. Im not sure an armored shirt will fit. Maybe I should just get a chest/back protector and be good. Im 5'11" and ~250lbs, maybe a bit chonky.

Zippers are heavy duty, zipper pulls are nice. There are 2 hand pockets, and one big middle pocket. Detachable hood, size zip, and several bungees and velcro spots to adjust. Sleeves are a little big, but maybe an XXL would be too big..

Maybe I was hoping this would be a lighter replacement for my big jacket, but maybe I should consider a jersey or another light mesh jacket. Jersey + rain shell + chest armor might be a good combo.

I like the price I paid. Im not sure if Id send it back for the full retail price of $450.

    yup

My usual route home regularly has stop and go traffic built up for anywhere from 4-8 miles from my exit, which I just lane split nowadays. When I first got my license, freeways were empty every day, or at least regularly flowing traffic, which allowed me to practice my freeway riding without introducing lane splitting, or having constant anxiety I was gonna get rear-ended in traffic. Lane splitting was sketchy as hell at first until I got used to the width of my bike and gauging the spaces/judging other driver's actions. Was really helpful to be able to progress with 1 step at a time vs having to juggle a bunch of new skills at once.

So after riding the monkey again today I decided the TB exhaust is too loud. I took it off and put the stock exhaust on back on. It feels much smoother now and it doesn’t feel like I lost any power. Much better for my old ears. Lol
