And another warm, humid day, not as smoky and hazy today

The wife got a surprise at work on Wednesday. She was told that her office is no longer part of the company, it's being split off. So as of tomorrow she has no 401k and no health insurance. It's not going to offered.
I've been already able to put her on mine insurance, I just have drop off a letter at work that explains that she's losing her insurance.
H.R. at work has been excellent to work with on this. Something most would not expect.
She still gets all of her vacation time .
I told her to start bringing any personal items home.

My wife's birthday is in November, she thinks we need to celebrate the whole month.

I hope she gets to transfer what she had in her 401K? This sucks Brother. Amazing how cutthroat these companies can be these days.

 

Those storms yesterday along the Tennessee , Kentucky state line were really nasty yesterday . Hoping the storms forecasted for this afternoon are nothing as bad

Any monies that she put into her 401k are hers along with any vested company matches. Most 401k’s also allow you to keep the monies in that account after separation. There are implications on age when you can withdraw from a 401k vs an IRA. If she plans on retiring or at least needing money from her 401k, I understand the tax situation is different with that vs the IRA which has a penalty tax on anything pulled out prior to 59 1/2. I’m looking into this right now for my situation. Good luck to her.

Good morning everybody! Hope everything has been going well for you guys.

It’s been a bit hectic here the past few days with my little brother visiting. Been taking him around doing all the tourist things which is totally screwed up my routine and made for some long days for me and the Mrs. It was sure good to see him and his family, but I’ll be glad to get back to our normal routine.

Have I missed anything good? How many desk flips while I was gone?

 

That’s horrible! I’m so glad you were able to switch her over on your insurance you don’t want to know what that is if you have to go private.

 

Today's the start of another 10 day mini vacation. I got 10 for 3 this time and will still have 36 hours of use or lose for another one down the road. Nothing planned, just not going to work.

 

Her paycheck will be bigger and mine will be smaller.

 

If it wasn’t already established, who was in charge now, she will have the stub to remind you!
