I saw a truck identical to my taco today and I admit I miss it. The major point that got me to trade in was to get out of an sr5 and into an or with the offroad goodies. I know u could have put an air locker in but I still would not have multiterrain or crawl control. I 100% still love my taco but this is also a great vehicle. Plus you can't beat that roll down back window. Lol.

Does anyone know of any good t4r forums? I joined one that looked skmaluar to this but it Def is lacking in interaction and content.

 

He's just backpedaling here now. He's mad at the OP for pointing out the inadequacies of the Tacoma platform vs the T4R. 3rd gens are good trucks. They could be great trucks if they had some of the better features of the 4runner. There is no shame in that.

 

This is just not factual. Tacoma steering wheels are not centered with the driver seat. This is a known thing.

 

Well now here is the rub. The GX and T4R are made in the same factory with nearly the same components. Sun/moonroof, door cards, shifter, consoles, infotainment, speedo. Many, many things are super similar if not nearly the same components.

My buddy had a 2018 GX, I had a 2019 4runner. I have been underneath both. I've driven both. Much closer to each other than the 4runner and the Tacoma are.

 

So they are also made by the same company ?! Wow

 

Same company, platform, and factory.

The Tacoma is a differently designed vehicle that only shares some bones underneath.

There is much more crossover on the 4runner and GX than the 4runner and Tacoma.

The GX happens to be a more luxurious and stout vehicle that fetches a higher new price tag. That is why the 4runner happens to be more luxurious and stout as well.

Seriously though, what are the issues?

 

None so far, 16 months old. I owned a 4Runner and it is more solidly built in my opinion. But I don’t care obviously as I own a tundra and Tacoma now.

 

Stopped by the dealership,old truck is looking good. They are listing it at 45k!

 

I installed them myself, and they work great. One of my favorite mods.
