    I need to use a #9 unless I get serious .

many long years ago in school the outline for Air Arcing mandated a #12 lens following instruction i put one in my hood . Nodded my head started the arc and pulled it up and started laughing .:rofl:

I said I don`t think the arc at 400 amps should look like a candle across the room. Put a #10 lens back in it was fine.

I agree. I think after seeing these pics the definition of this disorder needs to be expanded:

Funny, I just made a sissy bar for the scooter this weekend with some 1/2”.

I bend it using my vise with some aluminum soft jaws. The knurling on the steel jaws will transfer to the work piece so the aluminum avoids that. As for the actual bending, I sleeve the solid rod with a 3’ section of 1” tube and use that as my leverage. The tube also prevents the rod from bending anywhere inside the sleeve so you can control the radius of the bend to be tighter by keeping the sleeve right against the vise jaws or have a larger radius by leaving a couple inches exposed. Spring back is a real pain though so I draw out my plans to scale and I constantly check my bends agains it.

    Too much to list
I’ve not welded in like 7 years but my wife got me a cheap little flux core welder for Father’s Day just for small projects, grills, smokers, etc. If I had to guess at the moment the most structural thing I’ll weld is a set of L brackets I’m about to make to raise my 270 awning up a few inches haha.

it might work for mild steel, but is going to be close. also, 1/2" electrical trade size is 7/8" diameter, so it won't fit tightly.

i just know i had an apprentice once try to bend rebar with his bender like a standard piece of conduit. he didn't get 10 degree's before the bender popped apart like a button down shirt at a buffet.

Well just figured out I was getting ripped off at my go to metal supply.

I paid I think $120 last time for 5' of 2x5 .120 rectangle tube last time.

Today I paid $76 for 10' of the same thing at a different metal supply. Safe to say I won't be going back to my usual place.

Fuck...thought it was a geographical thing cause I remember making a comment about what you were paying for steel, and how expensive it was.

Cool to see people share though as it gives you an idea of supply/demand in local areas.

I need to buy another 4' x 4' sheet of 3/16" and last time I got some was about $86 or so bucks.

I always feel like I'm getting ripped off whenever I buy metal it's so damn expensive. I usually troll the leftover/scrap shelves at Metal Supermarkets for whatever they have so I can get a little discount.

A member who needed some steel here never came back so I may soon put all that 2" x 3" rectangular tube to use.

Got like 15' of it left over.

Yeah man it's ridiculous. I mean it's my fault too for not shopping around but it's what I was used to. I guess these companies have no problem ripping off their long time customers.

    Long time? Oof.

Time to be good friends with your new supplier; I get free steel all the time from them.
