is Tacoma's V6 weak?

And it’s a pos compared to the mighty 4runner

and the V6 will grenade tomorrow

and anyone with the 2.7 is driving a Devine vehicle that descended from Mount Olympus

 

I disagree. I have a 22 from a 12. no way, 3rd gen smokes the 12. It just needs to be revved up and I have manual so can run the 22 hard. I can get through gears way faster than I did with the 12.

 

Can't chip the tires in 2nd, mines an auto, but with the traction control turned off, it will smoke the tires, making a lot of noise if floored from a stop. I'm amazed how well it tows my boat, or my 5x10 utility trailer while mostly using S5.

 

I don't understand the complaint that these gen3 tacoma's won't hold gears. Maybe it was the older ones like yours, but my 2020 has no issues shifting up too early, or hunting. You begin an incline at speed, the truck will downshift when needed to 5th, or even 4th, and stay in that gear till the top of the hill is reached. Same using the cruise control. It doesn't do what a buddies 2019 auto did. I swear this transmission can read my mind. I'm assuming all the newer taco auto's share the same performance as mine.

 

You would need to drive one to understand.

All I remember when riding in a buddies 2019 if felt sluggish going over the same roads. He complained how it hunted too much. We did some side by side drag races on a no longer used dry dam road. My truck would pull away every time from the get-go.

I was lucky - I got one of the fast ones - and I trained it well so it doesn't hunt gears either.

 

Same reply on two separate posts! You are definitely suffering from something! 3rd gen insecurities maybe? Buyers remorse on color choice? Paid too much for the Pro? Very defensive maybe because it’s Friday??

 

The issue isn’t really going up a hill. The truck is decent at that. The issue is going 70-75mph and not being in the torque curve. So the truck continuously hunts between 3/4 and 6. At least that’s what my 21 did … which made cruise control impossible without feeling annoyed

 

Yes I am livid because I bought the worst truck known to man, paid 50k over sticker.

And everyone else around me is living the life I can only dream of.

My second one also. Had a 21 auto and now 22 manual. So technically it’s a gen6?!

 

The 3.5 does everything I need it for me to do. As well as my 2011 4.0 with 352k miles!! Love all the new Tech on the third gen also. The more recent years dont gear hunt like people complain about as well. Never an issue for me or something ive even noticed when trying to.

 

No they are not, plenty of power for normal everyday driving.
